a 5 year old to wear to her birthday party at a soft play centre? And to also think you should not post a picture on facebook of said little girl in her opaque tights and mini skirt in the soft play with her legs wide open showing her red knickers? Yuk.

I am usually very non judgy but this has riled me.

Women's clothes on little girls annoys me anyway though TBH and is definately one of my bugbears.

Plus don't most soft play places say trousers and socks???

only nice ones

Boden silver gladiator sandals with a plain mini jeans skirt and a Liberty-print tunic would be a great look for small girls this summer.

LadyBiscuit · 04/01/2010 12:16

Objecting to a photograph of a child with 'her legs wide open' says more about you OP than the person who posted the photo.

My friend's daughter wears tights with big writing and pictures on the bum. I think they're adorable. It would never occur to me that they were sexual

Comewhinewithme · 04/01/2010 12:23

Why don't you ask your friend why she posted the pic instead of bitching about her child on here ?

GleeE4 · 04/01/2010 12:24

oh no do bitch we LOVE it

aSilverLining · 04/01/2010 12:55

I am not bitching about a child!

"Objecting to a photograph of a child with 'her legs wide open' says more about you OP than the person who posted the photo."

I am not objecting to a photo of a child with their legs wide open either. I do however don't see why the picture I described woud be posted on facebook. Also this person is not on my friends, is a friend of a friend with her settings on to allow me to see her album.

Also, yes, whoopdeedo - it probably does say more about me and my own personal experiences to find this uncomfortable, thanks for pointing that out it hadn't occurred to me.

As I said last night I accept IABU about it.

OP, I know the look you mean and I don't like it either. DD has never worn opaques - wooly tights all the way here, and short skirts are always flared.

itsmeolord · 04/01/2010 13:17

Tethersend - no, it isn't here yet. I ordered it without checking the delivery policy, 4-9 days....... So it should be here just in time for the end of the heavy snow we are expecting this week.
I may embellish it with a few sequins and perhaps velvet shoulder patches??

I am mainlining lemsip to console myself.

tethersend · 04/01/2010 18:04

I actually love the idea of velvet shoulder pads and sequins

Anyway, hope you feel better soon...

'DD has never worn opaques - wooly tights all the way here'

Woolly tights are opaque. Opaque means you can't see through them.

zookeeper · 04/01/2010 19:04

Thanks Lequeen - website looks great!

thedollyridesout · 04/01/2010 19:16

I thought 'wooly' looked wrong .

The kind of opaques that the OP is talking about are the non-wool kind.

I like mini-boden for little girls, although aome Tesco and Asda stuff is good too- you just have to be disciminating. I love seeing children look cute and ready to run round having fun rather than too spangly and designer-sloganned. And yes, I think many girls' clothes can be inappropriately "teenage", and I son't understand why parents are happy for their children to wear it.

Still, I suppose I was more puzzled today to see a little boy of six or so bolting round the corner and run into a shop wearing just a pair of spiderman pajamas and bare feet. It is minus four, and there is ice on the ground . Ambling behind him were his mum and dad, also both in pajamas at almost five pm, but with boots and warm coats on top.

That made me go , I must admit.
