he says "you are a parent with a child....you jst cant see it yet!!(well not all of it!!)

You do realise that some pregnant women don't even have cars at all

Morloth · 31/12/2009 18:46

Also how can you get around the shop if you can't get across the carpark?

No car for me this time. Buses and walking. It isn't fun and I am pretty knackered by the time I get home, but that is the way it goes.

Fibilou · 31/12/2009 18:47

"YANBU, you need to open the door wide to get out and being heavily is so uncomfortable. "

By your logic massively obese people should be able to use these spaces too...

YANBU. Have done it and would do it again. (have also been unfortunate enough to be so fat with DS that could not get out of car at all in one car park so had to leave and abandon idea of shopping trip!!! )

Facebookaddict · 31/12/2009 20:01

rockbird totally on your side re earlier dispute.

Angelcat666 · 31/12/2009 22:03

GhoulsAreLoud You do realise that some pregnant women don't even have cars at all

Now that's given me an idea

I think supermarkets should give me a car to drive around the store in with someone to load the shopping in, put it through the checkout and reload it in the boot. Someone else to come home with me to unload it all and put it away and someone to drive as I can't

The fact I'm not pregnant is irrelevant, I'm overweight so that should do

Whoever said bf should drop you off is spot on. You walk even less then. If youre able to drive yourself you're not that heavily pregnant so certainly dont need a mum/baby spot. Dont be such a wuss. I can never remember thinking I was disabled even though I had spd

ilovemydogandmrobama · 31/12/2009 23:02

Why can't your bf do the shopping?

hurrydownthechimneytonight · 01/01/2010 07:55

YANBU I park in parent parking spots because TESCO gave me a parking permit which allows me to park there.

I wont feel guilty about parking there as have seen plenty of parents with children thats seem 6+ perfectly able to strap themselves in etc, or old people thinking that they can park there etc.

If it was not allowed then Tesco should not issue mothers to be parking permit things.

GreenMonkies · 01/01/2010 08:28

No, I don't think you ABU, you are "with child" and it can be bloody awkward to get out of a car in a normal sized space. We used them when I was heavily pregnant. (I have a feeling the Tesco's stuff actually mentions pregnant women as well as children under 5 in their P&C spaces blurb)

I do think that those who park in P&C spaces and then leave an adult sitting in the car with the children whilst the other adult goes into the shop (alone) are BU though. That is not what they are for at all!

GreenMonkies · 01/01/2010 08:31

ScreamingEagle I know exactly what you mean. Why can't women with severe SPD qualify for a temporary disabled sticker etc? I was signed off work with SPD and couldn't walk unaided, but of course I was just pregnant, not sick!!

ladyjadey · 01/01/2010 08:34

massively obese people tend to have a myriad of health problems, poor mobility and generally are registered disabled and have the relevant permits.

personally, i don't give a damn if some people want to park in parent and toddler spaces whilst pregnant, but i think it amusing that people have such strong views about it!!!

ask yourselves a question.......does it really matter? there are plenty of other, more important things to campaign for or against as you should see fit.

mrsbean78 · 01/01/2010 08:49

Seriously? Who cares?

frasersmummy · 01/01/2010 09:10

the poster who said earlier she couldnt get shopping delivered as she was in scotland....

we do have supermarkets in scotland and yes they deliver ...you need to be extremely remote not to get a delivery

as for the parking thing..it aint ever gonna change. There will always be people who need extra room/ to be closer to the store but are not entitled to p&c or disabled spaces and when they use the spaces there will always be those who judge and say its wrong

There will always be the lazy brigade as well usually but not always eejits in small sports cars who think the road and the car park belong to them

oh that everyone would think of those around them ...

ScreaminEagle What do you think people with no cars at all do?

Everyone has said if you have SPD then that probably should qualify as a disability and you should have a blue badge.

How come it is only car driving pregnant women who can't walk across the carpark?

SantaWears2SnowShoes · 01/01/2010 11:18

makes me pmsl that people think getting a blue badge is so easy.
there are loads of people on the sn board who can't get them even though they have dc's with disabilities.

Morloth · 01/01/2010 11:21

No-one said it was easy just that you should be entitled to one if you have a disability and from what I have heard SPD is a disability, but it still doesn't answer the question of why people with no cars somehow manage without parent & child parks but having a car makes them necessary?

You would think they could print them with expiry dates wouldn't you? So you get SPD (or other temporary disability), your doc fills out a form, the car people issue a blue badge with a prominent expiry date (hell you could maybe even give GPs the power to print them), say 3-6 months after disability should clear up. If it hasn't in that time you start the process again.

Was never bothered about using M&B parking until two morons parked their cars so close I could only get in the car through the boot! Not an easy manoeuvre with a trolley full of shopping and a nb.

Otoh, the local Tesco M&B parking spaces are mostly taken up by OAPs, who feel they need the extra space, and strange weirdos. Last time I used them with nb dc2, a bloke parked next-door in a van said, "Show us your tits"

I mostly Internet shop now.
