I spent more money on my friends childs xmas present than she did on mine

I brought my friends child a xmas present costing £10 and she brought my dd a dress which I know for a fact only cost £9 in Tesco.

AIBU to be peeved that she spent less money on my child than I spent on hers? Also, our household income is £25k per annum and hers is £32k per annum, plus she gets maintenance from her ex husband for her eldest ds.

And to add insult to injury, when we went out for a family meal on xmas eve, she had a starter and we didn't but we still split the bill evenly.

tee-hee

I get your point! Christmas does seem to bring out the worst in some people, doesn't it?

Brunettelady · 30/12/2009 16:33

This is a joke right? I am assuming that this is in response to all the christmas present threads that are on here.

JingleAllTheWay · 30/12/2009 16:33

This is just silly.

famishedass · 30/12/2009 16:33

what? I'm serious!

OK, yes it is, lol. No one (well I would hope not) would actually mind over £1, but me being quite guillable, didn't get it at first.

muggglewump · 30/12/2009 16:34

YANBU.

I'd never speak to her again, she is clearly a cheapskate and a cow

Heated · 30/12/2009 16:34

Can understand your upset. Tesco? Sheesh!

Scotia · 30/12/2009 16:35

This has to be the thread of the week

Matchingcardiganandtop · 30/12/2009 16:36

Over the next ten years reduce her Christmas present allowance by 10p, that will teach the bitch.

famishedass · 30/12/2009 16:36

No honestly I mean it. Also, I had to get two bus journeys to take the present to her house and she only has to get a train one stop to get to me. And I always serve chocolate biscuits when she visits but all she offered me were rich tea.

I would crap in her butterdish.

Heated · 30/12/2009 16:36

But bet she has a nicer MIL.

ruddynorah · 30/12/2009 16:37

next year get her something that cost £8. that'll learn her.

FlamingoCrimbo · 30/12/2009 16:38

I think you should break off the friendship - be sure do to it via facebook so everyone else knows about it - and use lots of misspelt swear-words in your status update. You can't risk her not getting the message.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 30/12/2009 16:39

trip......trap...

NewYearNewKnickers0nMaHead · 30/12/2009 16:40

I spent £10 on my friends dc, she only spent £9.98 on mine, what a tight fisted bitch she is. In fact, I think I no longer want to be friends with her

Buddleja · 30/12/2009 16:40

"Can understand your upset. Tesco? Sheesh!"

Too right - she could have got two or three dresses in Primark for the same amount

After all it's quantity not quality that counts isn't it?

hocuspontas · 30/12/2009 16:41

To me it's the effort involved. I always put a lovely shiny bow on their presents and ours sometimes don't even have a name tag on.
I mean, what would it take to show they care? I'm seriously thinking about leaving the bows off next year. See how they like it.

timelordvictorious · 30/12/2009 16:41

Shag her DH.

It's the only means of revenge suitable for such a slight.

Rich tea? Jesus, I'd have bitch slapped her there and then.

famishedass · 30/12/2009 16:41

In fact, I can't be 100% sure but I'm sure that she purchased the dress using her tesco double-up vouchers. Which means she spent even less doesn't it?

If your ass is famished Shiney knows a plumber who can fill it up...

Scotia · 30/12/2009 16:42

Why has this thread disappeared from my active convos?

ChilloHippi · 30/12/2009 16:42

I bet she did use her vouchers, the stingy cow.
