he has been bedridden with flu for 5 days inc today. He is a notorious hypoghondriac but would deny this.
I rang NHS direct tonight as he said he couldn't breath.
they rang the ambulance not me. Paramedic thought it was pulled muscle from coughing but they would take him in.
SO I have had the crappest day ever, I am so mad if it's another one of his over acting episodes. DD 14mo is really poorly with cold. Ds 4yo is snuggled in bed. Do I get them out in cold car, frozen skating ring roads after 9pm to get him or do I make him get taxi?

Hope your Dh is doing well and you and Dc are managing to have a good Christmas.

If it makes you feel any better I did the same thing with my ex. Turned out he had pleuracy (cant bloody spell it! )

You do realise that he will remind you of this every time he gets a sniffle!!

intensive care unit??? are you sure?

Pneumonia can either become very serious, very quickly - or it can rumble on for a long while.

My DH had pneumonia and pleurisy after suffering a collapsed lung. It went on for months... I was fairly sympathetic - however I did have 2 little ones and was pregnant, so possibly wasn't as sympathetic as I could have been!!!

I had pneumonia a couple of years later, again it wasn't acute but my GP made me aware of what further symptoms that would necessitate an immediate trip to hospital and I had weekly visits to the docs for 6 weeks. My DH was very sympathetic and I felt like a heel!!! And it did take those 6 weeks for me to be fully back on my feet again.

The OP wasn't to know that her DH had pneumonia when she posted, I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

If he had pneumonia and in ICU he would be so very ill that he would need the highest level of nursing and medical care. He would be ventilated and sedated. I am wondering if the op has got her abreviations mixed up. There are so many used: ICU, ITU, HDU, MAU, A&E, MIMI, EAU, DSU, OP, ECF, etc

How is he now?

whoopstheregoesmymerkin · 28/12/2009 16:44

thank you everone, he is on a main ward now, compos mentis (sp?) and off whatever lines he had in apart from the antibiotics. The deterioration was quit frightening.

Needless to say I SHALL be picking him up whenever he is discharged!

Helpyou, when I found him, whatever day that was it was, yes actute assesment not icu , first thing in a morning when the staff rang I was in a blind panic with screaming kids so forgive my mistake...

Glad your dh is feeling better Whoops. I still think YWNBU when you posted. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, so is having a crystal ball.
