bizarre. hope your lack of reply was not lost on her. it might get the message accross. i try to remember when faced with these sort of comments, something i read previously on mumsnet, that the best response is to say "gosh thats so rude i dont know how to reply!"

It would have been great if you had told her the truth regarding your IVF. That would have shut her right up. Why do people always feel the need to comment on how many children/when you're having the next etc.

My DHs nan ALWAYS goes on and on about when are we having more. When I had my DS, she came over when he was about 5 days old. It was the day when I was feeling really really bad, all I wanted to do was sleep and my stitches were really sore. DHs nan came over and she is nice but quite a lot to take. She spent over an hour going on about having another one. I want to scream that it would be great but it took over 3 years to have this one (conceived naturally) after being told it was unlikly we would have any without IVF. I wish people would just mind their own business! Sorry, rant over now.

Glad I wasn't the only one who found her completely nutty.

ABetaDAd - I agree there are definately competitive breeders. One of my so called friends is obsessed and has browbeaten her busband into having lots of children - and she is totally focused on the fact that I am having another (when I see her she looks at my belly adn says 'you look lovely' - in the way letches talk to your boobs!). Sad but true.
