to believe my dd deserved to be invited to sleepover after friend's party?

DD1 (aged 13) is off to a pampering/hair/make-up party at her friend's house from 6pm to 10pm tonight - and we've been told on the invite to pick her up after etc. Not a problem, though a bit late imho.

Anyway, we mentioned to her that it would have been nice if she could have just slept over with friend afterwards instead. And dd said that four girls HAD been invited to do that, but not her. These girls were friends who had recently invited the birthday girl to their house for a sleepover so she was returning the favour, my dd explained. Which is fair enough. Except WE took the birthday girl ON HOLIDAY TO GREAT YARMOUTH for a week earlier this year!!! And dd has had no return invite from their family.

AIBU to think, actually, my dd deserved to be asked to sleepover first???

Harrumph etc.

Erm... yes I might. Possibly???

Not that I have so many friends anyway, but... yes. Is that very bad?

Oh yes, Great Yarmouth is the promised land definitely. We went to BeWILDERwood, the best theme park on earth too.

Yes puppy. Very bad. It is self-important to do that on your birthday, apparently

Well you seem quite sane to me

Oblomov · 23/12/2009 12:16

And me

Is this new crime worse than ..... greggs, fruitshoots etc etc ?

PuppyMonkey · 23/12/2009 12:19

Arf, I am quite self important so that's fair. And not sane at all. Gibber.

Could someone let me know when things get irrationally judgemental? Only this thread really doesn't cut the demented mustard yet. Unlike its sister..

ImSoNotTelling · 23/12/2009 12:38

Yes puppy you now need to announce that even if she had been asked you wouldn't have let DD stay anyway as the hosts have an avocado bathroom suite, or something.

PuppyMonkey · 23/12/2009 14:54

Ah right, I can see I need to be putting a bit more effort into this. Erm...

Instead of asking your DD to sleepover, they should have agreed to take her off your hands for a week, but since it's Christmas in 2 days time , they should give you the week in lieu, so your DD can take it whenever you need a rest she wants to.

CitizenPrecious · 24/12/2009 19:46

ooh, Puppymonkey, we went to Bewilderwood too

it's utterly brilliant, innit?

AmericanHag · 24/12/2009 21:53

Kid sleepovers are the devil's work. They must be because look at how they affect mums.

Why can't people sleep in their own damn houses?

Jem27 · 24/12/2009 21:59

Its annoying but happens so just brush it off and encourage your DD to do the same.

Its all about who is flavour of the month with kids and that determines who gets invited to what.

It may be that the Birthday girl had a limit on numbers for the sleepover and found it hard to choose who to invite, this has happened to my DD a few times as Im always strict about how many she can have.
