to not want to put myself out for this woman?

Like the rest of the country, we are knee-deep in snow and blizzards. Traffic is horrendous and buses have been non-existent til around 2:30pm this afternoon.

A colleague called me and asked me to pick her some shopping up from a specific shop in a town where I get my connecting bus from to work, the shop being a walk away from the bus station. The only reason she asked me is because she doesn't want to have to muck about getting it in this weather. I said I couldn't and now feel really quite guilty, especially as it's the season of goodwill and all but as in this weather, my commute is going to be over 2 hours to work and I don't want to have to divert myself from outside of the bus station when connecting my journey, just because she doesn't want to put herself out for the weather, well I don't want to have to put myself out because of the weather neither. This woman is known as selfish but I still feel really guilty.

Nah, fuck that. If she had broken a leg or similar, then maybe. YANBU

I think you are being entirely reasonable.
Don't think anything of it!

Don't think YABU at all and i certainly wouldn't be feeling guilty. perfectly reasonable to declilne even for a good friend.

The only way YABU is to be wasting anymore time thinking about it!

DOn't think she is unreasonable to ask by the way but she would be unreasonable to get stroppy about you saying no

Thanks for your replies. People are always telling me to get a backbone and that i'm too nice for my own good, but really she will have 2 more days before Christmas to pick it up, and even saying that it is not anything to do with Christmas at all so she can get it at any time. She even said herself that she was going to get it yesterday but couldn't be bothered because of the snow and the buses being slow but I would have to add at least 30 mins on my looong, cold, stinky bus commute time to pick it up and then walk in the horrid snow getting my pinkies all wet. I still feel a little guilty but not as much. Oh, and she's not short of a bob or two, so she could certainly afford a taxi cab there and back or ask a driver friend to take her there.

I think you are a little bit unreasonable but if she uses you as a slave then good for you for saying no.

YANBU

She doesn't want to muck about in this weather getting HER shopping - but expects you to instead! Cheeky so and so....
