To be pissed off with my best friend's BF for insinuating....

that we are both imbacilles.

I went to see her today, she lives in an area that has been affected badly by the snow, so do I but it's not too bad in my area.

So, I went to leave, my car got stuck as fresh snow had fallen since I had been there, and we didn't realise. After trying everything to get the car out, we decided I would take her car as I had to get back to collect DD.

Cue, ranting phone conversation between best frien d and her bf... Saying us women ar "chaos" are we both stupid driving each others cars in these conditions and that we would be facing high insurance bills after crashing each others cars wtf??!!

Fact of the matter is, I have 20 years driving experience and (touch wood) never had an accident, and neither has best friend.

Why do men assume that women are so brainless and only men are capable of driving in adverse conditions.

Am so , he doesn't even know me to judge me this way.

Oh no, my nose has gone all sideways to my eyes.

hobbgoblin · 21/12/2009 23:03

what gear were you in?

could u not have used a shovel rather than swap cars?

bit confused here...

and this time i really am breastfeeding hence typing

Catherrs · 21/12/2009 23:18

Can I just point out that 3rd party cover for all cars isn't automatic on fully comp policies? It's often an optional extra now, or not included at all...

ImSoNotTelling · 21/12/2009 23:20

Crikey. So OP could have been driving with no insurance at all.

Catherrs · 21/12/2009 23:21

possible... depends on the policy - but you can't assume it.

hobbgoblin · 21/12/2009 23:23

oh merde!

ImSoNotTelling · 21/12/2009 23:24
Grin
Catherrs · 21/12/2009 23:29

I'm not saying OP didn't have it! But it used to be more or less automatic, over the past few years it's been removed from a lot of policies.

hobbgoblin · 21/12/2009 23:32

Mine does. I know this because DP let me drive his porsche with just 3rd party cover via my own fully comp.

He is obviously an imbecile. I'm not sure about you OP - we need to know more.

Shall I set you some highway code questions so we can decide?

ImSoNotTelling · 21/12/2009 23:33

I can only assume that OP is still reading

She may join in later...

IMoveTheStarsForChristmas · 21/12/2009 23:33

OP, where have you gone?

Catherrs · 21/12/2009 23:43

In NL the car is covered, not the driver. DH still doesn't let me drive his Honda Civic

Quattrocento · 21/12/2009 23:51

I don't like the sexism of saying that women are chaos - that's objectionable

But of course he does have a point. Not merely that you shouldn't be driving in adverse weather conditions but that you are driving cars with which you are unfamiliar.

Driving your own car in snow, when you pretty well know how it's going to react is one thing. An unfamiliar car is very different and more dangerous.

Also I'm not sure what your insurance position is? Would you be driving her car on a third party fire and theft basis? Because that's all my insurance does when it comes to driving other peoples cars.

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 22/12/2009 08:03

Insurance is for wimps

Casserole · 22/12/2009 10:39

I don't think he WAS saying all girls are chaos. Just 2.

nellie12 · 22/12/2009 16:34

Anyway, have you got the right cars back after all that. has anyone dared to get their cars back what with snow, insurance issues and the small matter of how you spell imbecile?
