Interesting link, Ripeberry. I hope it is £49.95 for all 4 socks rather than just one!

Anyone used these? On a steep hill perchance?

YANBU at all! I had a horrible journey home in snow on Friday and a prrific experience yesterday where we "popped out" and got home 4.5 hours and a mashed front wing later. an I DH was driving and managed to control a tractionless slide on a steep hill on a country road so muc better than I would have done. I am so glad I don't work Mon and Tues. If ice on our road doesn't get better, may have to take a holiday on Wednesday.

Not at all - returned from Up North today and got down the M1 into central London in under 4 hours no problem.

Started snowing again in Brixton. Took 1 1/2 hours to go the last 2 miles down the main road, not helped by MrNC trying a short cut where cars were getting stuck skidding on the crest of a hill. He got out 3 times to join people pushing cars out of the way.Total gridlock going towards Crystal Palace.

Very nearly got out to walk, but couldn't face unpacking the car to get baby and all essentials onto the pushchair.

notcitrus there was an accident that closed part of the M25 this evening which apparently caused knock on into bits of Surrey, Croydon and south London so that coupled with snow chaos must have made nightmare traffic conditions!

ah that would explain the stream of slow moving cars along our road from 4 till about 8 last night

I asked cos my mum and a few work collegues seem to think I;m over reacting. Luckily for me (ish) my car wont start which seems to be a more acceptable reason for not driving in treacherous conditions ...

Have adivsed my parents in law not to travel the 200 miles up to visit at xmas. My parents are doing similar journey to my Uncle's and think I;m eing silly "the main roads are fine...."

Personally, I feel I have a DUTY to lie here, after staying in and having a lazy fun day with DH and DD all day... A DUTY to those who need to be out and don;t want me clogging up the roads...
