to expect XH to turn up for DS on time?

XH sees DS once a week for 2 hours - his choice. I have no problem with it being longer or overnight, it is XH who cannot cope, only wants the 'nice' time. Is it unreasonable to expect him to turn up on time and have him back on time, when he knows DS is waiting for him to arrive, then I'm cooking tea for when he returns.

how late is he?

as long as he turns up and its not 2 hrs late then i think you could allow a little slack?

ChasingSquirrels · 20/12/2009 19:47

of course yanbu, but you know that, and also that you can't do anything about it.

moan away though, that can help you relieve the annoyance.

Thanks Chasing Squirrels! He's not really late, just 15 mins or so, but its every week and I think as he has so little time with his DS he'd find every second previous. Oh no, sorry, course not, otherwise he would have kept it in his pants and not left us! Bitter - me? Course not!

oh fgs 15 mins is niether here nor there, i wouldnt get so wound up about it

i am a stickler for time keeping myself but i dont expect everyone to conform to my standards

ChasingSquirrels · 20/12/2009 20:00

15 mins isn't long, but to a small child waiting for their father who they see so infrequently, and to a single mother who gets little enough of a break (sorry am assuming here) it is a pain in the bloody neck - now and again, it happens, every week is just thoughtless and rude.

But as I said, what can you do? Nothing. So you speak platitudes to ds and try not to get wound up.

Bet he brings him back spot on time though !

VinegarTinselTits · 20/12/2009 20:04

small children dont have any concept of time, yes it is annoying for you, but he may just be slack, i know my xp is, he is always 30 mins to an hour late, so if i need him to get ds at a certain time i tell him to come half an hour earlier, that way he turns up at the time i need him to, you jst have to work round people who have timing issues

VinegarTinselTits · 20/12/2009 20:08

also if he knows it bothers you he may be doing it on purpose, so i would be absolutely blaise about it in front of him
