bought myself a botte because DH forgot to.

got in. told DH i'd have one as fancied it.

he comes downstairs and gets all sniffy because it's 4pm.

I don't have to go out anywhere again. I don't have anything I need to be doing.

I have no problem with having a baileys over rocks at 11.00am on a weekend, providing I am not driving anywhere.

DillieTantie · 19/12/2009 18:07

As late as 4pm? - wine o'clock starts early in the month week before Christmas

Bailey's trifle- a made up recipe from friend- break up choc muffins in bowl, slosh Baileys over them- up to you how much!
Layer fresh custard, top with loads of whipped cream and grated chocolate.
Drink rest of Baileys.
I have just seen tubs of Baileys thick cream in Waitrose- I could buy it to eat with a spoon. Anyone tried it|?

jemart · 19/12/2009 18:11

Excellent plan, would love to join you but have no booze in the house

ChunkyKitKat · 19/12/2009 18:20

There's a Jamie Oliver recipe for Bailey's and banana bread and butter pudding!

Can't see anything wrong with Baileys at 4pm. I've been drinking Baileys with coffee brandy.

ChunkyKitKat · 19/12/2009 18:21

deaddei, not tried Bailey's trifle, but it sounds gorgeous

deaddei · 19/12/2009 18:25

Well it's hardly Heston Blumenthal but we like it!! Very popular at girls lunches...

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:30

It sounds divine. I don't rate Heston at all... Some people I know went to his restaurent, they were not impressed.

ChunkyKitKat · 19/12/2009 18:42

I'd rather go to Jamie Oliver's restaurant/s.

Bella - why weren't they impressed?

Ohforfoxsake · 19/12/2009 18:43

I have ordered Baileys Cream in my Christmas shop, I daren't have it in the house before Christmas Eve!

Chocolate custard or vanilla on the brownies?

Am now thinking about ameretti biscuits, crushed with ameretto drizzled on top and some sort of vanilla/marscapone topping. might have to explore that one further.

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:47

Chunky - I don't think they rated the food tbh, they had the snail porridge and it wasn't as they had imagined it to be....

Actually, I think they went so they could say they had been for the experience.

timelordvictorious · 19/12/2009 18:55

Anyfucker, do you have a recipe for mice pie?

Can you purchase mice at Waitrose, or does one have to go and forage outside?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2009 18:59

yes alright timelord, I did a typo, yah-boo {fgrin]

might be summat to do with the fact I am on my 3rd glass of wine ...

timelordvictorious · 19/12/2009 19:14

Jealous...

We've got no wine in. I have put some ice in the freezer and declared Cocktail Night.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 19/12/2009 19:19

oh fuck, I can't even do a proper smiley...

perhaps I should go to bed...

rookiemater · 19/12/2009 19:34

OOh what is it about Christmas and Baileys.

Always buy a mahoosive bottle that I drink for about 3 days over Xmas, weigh myself on new years day, realise that am same weight as small continent then Baileys festers until next Christmas.

Feck it I'm off to see if the last years bottle in the cupboard has curdled as I fancy one ....

Hurrah, found bottle of Drumgray cream liqueur ( basically Baileys by a different name) fantastic, don't really enjoy the taste of alcohol any more so this is so fab.

secretgardin · 19/12/2009 20:06

had a baileys at 11am whilst painting the bathroom

uggbug · 19/12/2009 20:13

I second the request for the Baileys trifle recipe!
