Make up on a 2 year old

We had a party at the nursery where we work. I work with toddlers, so they are 2 rising 3.
One little girl was brought in at 8 o'clock, dressed for the party which started at 2.30 with eye shadow and lipstick on. From her own Tinkerbell make up kit, applied by Mum.
I thought it was very sad that this mother thought it appropriate to do this.
So, would do you think?
I have a 13 year old and hate to see her in make up, but accept it as part of growing up, but to sexualise a 2 year old in this way makes me feel very uneasy.
I have just read the 'Pink Stinks' thread and feel that some parents are turning their daughters into 'pink princesses' and I am very uneasy with it.

lide? lied. And that was also a lie because I actually have a 9yo ds. No dds. He doesn't wear make-up.

What kind of age would you say it would be acceptable to wear make up at a party?

My DDs 9 and I let her mess about with make up at home, but not go out in it, because like a poster said earlier, she's gorgeous enough without it.

But I wear lippy and powder everyday, so how long can I say no before I'm being a hyprocrite? Cos I started wearing it at around 14 and can remember how much more confident it made me feel, so really I wear it as a 'mask' IYSWIM not to be attractive.

Ooh, if my DH has any say in it, DD will be about 27 years old before she even goes to a party, let alone wears make up to one!!

I feel its dressing up too & not really sexualizing at that age.

Who didn't want to wear make-up when we were littler? It was part of growing up, but I doubt she feels that way at 2.

But I think it was probably guilding a lily, in other words making her look less pretty.

I wonder if she asked for it or it was just the mother's idea.
