I dont really blame the kid that did it, it's a class of 5 and 6 yr olds, but she does look silly, and I thought childrens scissors would'nt be able to cut hair.

Why did she let him?

whoingodsnameami · 18/12/2009 16:50

I really dont know, just the mind of a 6 year old I suppose.

Make sure you take loads of photos to embarass her when she is a teenager!

LOL. DS had something similar happen to him in reception. I told him off though as he must have let them do it!

RubberDuck · 18/12/2009 16:58

YANBU, I would be annoyed too, but only for a little while. Then in coming years you'll look at photos and say "oh yes, that's when dd got her fringe cut by her classmate", roll your eyes and then laugh.

(ds2 cut his own hair the day before he started in reception, so I do empathise. I now look at his first day at school photo and grin).

Oh dear

Would she suit an urchin crop?

Heqet · 18/12/2009 17:05

oh dear.

What about a slide / grip to hold it off the face totally? blend it into the rest of her hair?

OrmIrian · 18/12/2009 17:13

I don't suppose she cares. In which case don't worry about it and look forward to enjoying the teenage embarrasment in yrs to come. They will become family folklore.

pofacedandproud · 18/12/2009 17:19

was a teacher around?

PollyTechnique · 18/12/2009 17:24

A friend of dd's cut her fringe short and I actually complimented her to her mum, who then told me that it wasn't an intentional fashion statement!

I thought it looked cute and suited her.

Can a hairdresser make your dd's fringe look "meant"?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 18/12/2009 18:12

My dd cut half of her hair off at the side and slid the scissors under her hairband at the front and hacked away. Resulting bogbrush front and asymetric bob wasn't a good look. Childrens safety scissors do cut. Teacher was mortified.

muggglewump · 18/12/2009 18:17

DD cut her hair when she was 2 and managed to make the back, and sides wonky, but the crown look almost shaved.
I had a two year old resembling a monk for ages.

It's funny now, but wasn't at the time, I did cry loads.
I may also have said that she wasn't pretty anymore and I only wanted a pretty daughter
I am suitably ashamed now.

If it helps she ran into a lamp post a couple of months back and is now stuck with a photo of her with a black eye on her passport for the next 5 years?

wordsonascreen · 18/12/2009 18:19

Ds has a black eye slightly closed and totally bloodshot in his passport photo, he looks like a Mafiosi.

poinsettydawg · 18/12/2009 18:25

It will be fun to look back on the photos in the future. Be happy.

AK1107 · 18/12/2009 18:32

Oh no.

The day after my DD (4)had a lovely haircut she cut chunks out of the front. I was furious! The hairdresser then neatened it so she now has a fringe which she hates. She now lives in alice bands.

If there is enough hair at the front you could push it back with an alice band?

Pikelit · 18/12/2009 18:58

Christams?

For that alone, the whole lot of you deserve to resemble a scene from Deliverance.

But unless you have the paparazzi continuously camped outside your door, what does one cack Christmas haircut matter? I doubt that your dd will be getting the sort of over-exposure that makes for perpetual, public shame.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 18/12/2009 19:06

My DS2 cut his own hair just before he was pageboy at my sister's wedding.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 18/12/2009 19:14

ROFL at 8Kreecher's* DD's bogbrush/bob do!
