would be a childrens birthday cake?

DH went to get a cake for DS's birthday today. His instructions were - check the dates, and 'get something like a caterpillar or a hedgehog one'. He was getting it from M&S.

He has come home with a huge 'extra chocolately cake'. It looks delicious. But it is not a childrens cake. DS turns one today.

And it is display until today, use by tomorrow on the dates.

I am really disappointed.

He only bought one instead of me because I needed a break, the children are ill at the moment so I have been getting 4 hrs sleep, if that, every night.

yabu I'm afraid - all cakes start off just plain, so just stick some decorations on it to make it a bit more colourful, a birthday candle and away you go!
Don't have to go and buy decorations, just make some little paper shapes and stick them on or make a little paperchain of little men and wrap it round the cake.
enjoy the celebrations!
