Finally I've got a chance to go on AIBU.

Yesterday DD and I were in Holland and Barrett buying tea and DD was generating a bit of a crowd being 8 weeks old and all.

I mentioned to one of the nice ladies cooing that DD had just had her first jabs this morning when some dreadlocked man leered over and said 'Don't let her have any immunisations whatever you do. Its all a conspiracy (man)'

I did this and left the shop.

  1. who is going to benefit from the conspiracy? and
  2. what business is it of his to go around preaching to mums anyway. and
  3. I wish I had said 'Oh shut up. You arse!'

The dont smell unless you let them.

DSs 1 & 2 have locs

The are clean and do not smell and do not attract nits anymore than 'normal' hair does.

(can you tell I have had this conversation before

Thankyou che ... I would never ever ever wish to offend you. Was asking purely in the spirit of ignoramus enquiry (and steering away from vaccinations)

chegirlwithbellson · 16/12/2009 17:00

No offence taken

Dont like to miss a chance to inform people of the non smelliness of dreadlocks though . But they can stink like mank if just left to fester and matt ewwwwwwwwwww.

That is not how you locs up hair.

TinselianAstra · 16/12/2009 18:26

This doesn't belong in vaccinations topic because it's not a vaccinations thread. It's a 'weirdy-looking man butting in' thread.

It would be just the same (if not better) if he'd said 'don't let her have any fillings whatever you do - they use them to listen to your thoughts'.

Actually that would have been better - added frisson of judgeyness at not-brushing-childrens-teeth-enough

poshsinglemum · 16/12/2009 18:33

yanbu- none of his business.

i hate all this paranoid conspiracy crap. He probably thinks that the goverment releases diseases on purpose in order to extort money for pharmeceuticals. (My abusive ex actually thought this.)

I think you shouldn't judge people for having dreads though.

poshsinglemum · 16/12/2009 18:39

I think you are all missing the point of the thread and are fixating on the dreads. if it was a non-dreaded person such as a snobby old lady you would all be in uproar at her nosyness.

It is the individual's choice to have vaccines etc and I hate it when others try to convince me not too.

My abusive ex and his mum were in the anti-vaccination camp and when I went travelling to Asia they tried to convince me that vaccines such a styphoid, rabiea and/or Malaria would make me go mad or destroy my health.

Mabe so but not as much as said diseases would mate.

poshsinglemum · 16/12/2009 18:42

Likewise if you were totally against vaccinating your baby I would never dream of lecturing you to do so.

pagwatch · 16/12/2009 18:43

Oi Tinsel
I think posh just pissed on your attempt to convince me that this was not a shitty twatty vaccination thread

bellissima · 16/12/2009 18:43

Yikes thesecondcoming - that's my own inert racism and stereotyping exposed as I assumed the man with dreadlocks was not white and that someone might possibly be objecting to 'leering' for that reason. Oh dear...(Bellissima now mortified at her own prejudices and apologises)

But leaving the poor dreadlocked chap aside - OP - my DD2 was bf and got little zits and I think it's something to do with your own hormones transferring yuck, although why DD1 didn't get them I have no idea.

TinselianAstra · 16/12/2009 19:20

Bugger. Tis a vaccination thread.

pagwatch · 16/12/2009 19:21

It was a good effort though Tinsel

Jamieandhismagictorch · 16/12/2009 19:24

Tinsel Nooooo - it isn't - 'tis another loverly "twatting around in a good natured way because it's Christmas" thread

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 16/12/2009 19:26

It doesn't have to be a vax thread. It could be an Unsolicited Advice From Strangers thread.
On which subject: man with dreads was only trying to be helpful. Whether or not you agree with what he said, that does not constitute him being an arse. I thought this was going to be about someone parking in a parent & child space or similar....

oops, just noticed Tinselian has tried that. Oh well, will hit post anyway and hope for the best.

pagwatch · 16/12/2009 19:28

Jamie......
Are you drunk? Have you been sniffing the sherry trifle?

(psst. I did the random inappropriate comment on a serious thread thing. Did we figure how to stop that?)

Jamieandhismagictorch · 16/12/2009 19:34

pag How very dare you. I am completely sober.

pssst Where was your inappropriate comment ? (if it's not drawing attention too much ?)

pagwatch · 16/12/2009 19:40

sorry Jamie
To be fair it is pretty hard to tell.
