No, YANBU, I found a knee in the nether regions helped ex-H realise the error of his way a lot quicker than a poke in the ribs, and when he complained, I said it was a female automatic reaction to a bloke waking them and their baby up....

Poor DS learned to sleep through DH's snoring. I don't know how, I still can't do it without earplugs!

DS is in his own room as of a few days ago (16 weeks old) and I sort of envy him. He looks so peaceful.

Montifer · 16/12/2009 00:24

YANBU
It's infuriating isn't it. Never seemed to bother DS though.

I found it even more annoying when DS moved into his own room (next to ours) and I could hear DP's snoring through the wall when I got up in the night.
I have been known to phone him on his mobile to ask him politely to SHUT UP

YANBU

I am still downstairs (must go to bed soon!!) and I can hear DH snoring, it is rumbling not-so-gently through the floor.

waddlelikeaduck · 16/12/2009 07:22

its amazing too that they sleep through dc's crying, i was up with dd from 2-5am and again at half six and he's snoring away..... Lol

PTS - what is it? You must find out. Sounds magical.

waddlelikeaduck · 16/12/2009 08:07

After 5 years of being woken regularly (and kept awake) by DH's snoring, I finally snapped and told him he was in the spare room until he got it sorted. He's now been referred to the sleep clinic at the hospital and was supposed to be going in for a full-on examination under GA today but it's been cancelled due to lack of beds so it is likely to be the new year before he gets a diagnosis. We are having our first baby in June and he couldn't really expect to snore like a drill with a baby in the room so I am relieved he has finally taken steps to sort it out. YANBU.

My DP snores so badly we sleep in seperate rooms but both rooms available to each other at all times. I usually move to his room during the night or back to my room. It works very well. We have a 3.5 DD, she sleeps through it but slags him regularly about it. His problems are due to sinus and an operation when he was young. I hope soon he will go the doctors to get it checked. He can not be getting a good night sleep and I feel it is doing further damage to him down the road. He falls asleep often on the couch in the evenings. His snoring is a touchy subject but brought up often ...

MamaLazarou · 16/12/2009 11:18

You have my sympathies - DH snores like a hog. The only thing that works is a combination of Breathe Right nasal strips (like rugby players wear) and a funny little ring that he got from Boots. I have no idea how the ring works, but it does!

emsyj - poor you. But rest assured that babies often sleep through many things that adults can't! x

ToFalalalola · 16/12/2009 12:15

Ugh, poor you - isn't it annoying how everyone thinks snoring is a sort of joke until they have to sleep in the same bed with a chronic snorer? Snoreeze worked for my DP. It's literally the only reason we're still sleeping in the same room, as he snores continuously and insanely loudly every night without it.

Try a few remedies until you find one that works. It's worth it.

AliBellandthe40jingles · 17/12/2009 00:12

We tried Breathe Right - they helped but weren't great. Now DH has Snoreeze and it does work really well. When I went up to bed last night he hadn't used it and so was snoring like a hippo or something - I woke him up and made him spray it and he stopped.

It is on 3for2 in Boots at the moment ladies, so stock up!

sb6699 · 17/12/2009 00:29

Adds Snoreeze to Christmas list and leaves discreetly on kitchen worktop for DH to accidently come across in the morning

joanne34 · 17/12/2009 11:03

Wax earplugs... god-send.

IfYouCouldWouldYou · 17/12/2009 11:15

Also lavender oil(few drops on pillow) or lavender pillow spray helped with DHs snoring

TimeForMe · 17/12/2009 12:27

Oh lord, I can so sympathise with you. My DP's snoring in indescribable!!I bought these www.britishsnoring.co.uk/shop/snore_calm_foam_ear_plugs.php tried them for the first time last night and had the best sleep ever!! I honestly did not hear a thing!
