DH is in London on business, he usually goes every other week and has a social night out - all fine but I have just spoken to him and he can bearley speak and is 'trying' to get back to his hotel. I am so worried I feel physically ill.

Thanks honeymoo

Probably am being a twit but can't help worrying about him.

Fibilou · 15/12/2009 22:28

OP, if he's in a hotel presumably he still has the room key somewhere on his person ?

Fibilou · 15/12/2009 22:29

Erm, how is it a daft comparison CS ? it's the exact same situation in reverse

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2009 22:30

well fibi, I am sympathetic actually

I think that the OP shouldn't waste her time fretting about a grown man

and that any little adventures he gets into because of his own stupidity are entirely his own fault

OP, switch your phone off and go to bed

I know you won't sleep but unless you are prepared to get in the car to pick him up there is fuck-all you can do

bloody mobile phones!! What did we do before them? This is why, when my DH is out on the lash, I don't want to speak to him.

Christ, never mind "helicoptor parenting", here we have an example of "helicoptor partnering"

need2vent · 15/12/2009 22:30

fibilou Never thought of that {blush] Anyway he is in taxi and has remembered hotel - am now cross.

scottishmummy · 15/12/2009 22:31

he is familiar with london
he is an adult
nothing that you can realistically do
this coming weekend is busiest for police, paramedics and hosp staff as many workers go out get muted.resources don't exist to guide every bevvied businessman home

and tbh,you sitting fretting wont sober him up or reduce his excessive alcohol intake

if you have friends/colleagues perhaps call them ask were is he staying.check with hotel

you need to wait til he home, sobered up and have a meaningful conversation

go out get bevvied but book a cab fopr X time
safely plan his route back

need2vent · 15/12/2009 22:31

But happy too. [blsuh]

Go to bed. Enjoy the peace and quiet. This is an everyday occurence in London, esp this time of year. The city will be full of blethering pissed up middle aged men that should know better - he'll be fine, don't worry, he'll make some friends in a similar state and eventually remember where he is supposed to be, the idiot. Next time make him write it down on a bit of paper and out it in his pocket. My DP regularly goes out in London after work and falls asleep on the train on the way home, ends up in Brighton, Colchester, Gatwick etc etc - he's always fine. If he really can't speak there will be loads of police around to sort him out.

Fibilou · 15/12/2009 22:32

he is fully deserving of a smack when he gets home then

At least you can go to bed worry free now. I certainly wouldn't have been able to sleep if I knew DH was out off his face and lost in London.

fabhead · 15/12/2009 22:32

see, x post! They always have that homing instinct!

CybilServant · 15/12/2009 22:32

Anyfucker you are far more eloquent than I

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 15/12/2009 22:32

Unless you have a number for any of his colleagues there is nothing you can do need2vent.

But please try not to worry. If he passes out in the street he will probably be well looked after. Or at least he would be safer in central London than out in the middle of nowhere.

London will be absolutely packed right now. There will be traffic jams and crowds of people. Someone will notice him if he's completely out of it. Hopefully he won't be robbed - this is not a city of complete lawlessness, some of us who live here are actually quite civilised - but if he is then thats a lesson learned for him not to be such a silly billy in future.

And I think you need to know the name of his hotels, too, in future. Mobiles can get lost, you need another way to contact him, whether he's drunk or not.

I am sure he will be fine. Really I am.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2009 22:33

n2v, you are getting needlessly wound up go to bed, love, switch off your phone

need2vent · 15/12/2009 22:33

CitizenPrecious · 15/12/2009 22:33

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2009 22:35

I seem to be upsetting people tonight though

I have my straight-talking (some would say, rude) head on...

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2009 22:37

citizen...is it "nobbers weekend" ?

CybilServant · 15/12/2009 22:37

Well I like it. Keep it up. Its refreshing

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 15/12/2009 22:38

aww, I think I love you cybil

verytellytubby · 15/12/2009 22:38

I'd be grateful that he's staying in a hotel and you won't have to endure snoring, the smell of stale beer and wake up with bits of kebab on your pillow!

He's a big boy. I'm sure if he could ring you, he could ring one of his colleagues to find out where they are staying.

CybilServant · 15/12/2009 22:39
Smile
bibbitybobbitysantahat · 15/12/2009 22:44
