To Think Our New House is Jinxed

Having lived at our old property for 9 years with barely any problems!

Been in our new house for 5 days, so far the boiler has packed up, and we have to wait 3 days for a engineer, the oiled filled radiator we have put in DS room to try to keep him warm keeps tripping out all the electric.

Stupid video sender wont work, cut my foot and spilt blood all over new carpet, DW has so far dropped 3 open cans of coke, the cooker is rubbish....

OH the cat decided last night to take a piss all over the kitchen floor..... really fed up and thinking we have upset some sort of Karma...

However our neighbours are lovely

Probably is jinxed yes. Your cat is telling you the same using only the power of urine that you should get some herbs, set fire to them and dance around cleansing it.
OTOH, the boiler could be coincidence, the radiator may point to a useless wiring system, the coke could have been dropped because dw's hands were too cold to hold them (due to boiler not working) not sure what a video sender is so can't think of a rational reason why that doesn't work, the cooker may be at the end of its life or you are unfamiliar with it and the cat could be developing continence problems.

Waiting 3 days for an engineer is grim, did you have no hot water?

Your cat may be too scared to go out because she has to establish new territory.

At least you have good neighbours! I remember it was horrendous when we moved in, but our lovely neighbours brought us a cup of tea.

Have you considered that your lovely neighbours are the source of all your woes?

I could have written your post!
In our lovely new house the boiler broke down on Christmas Eve, leaving us with no hot water or heating until after New Year. The lovely boiler engineer said as tactfully as he could that the thing obviously hadn't been serviced in 10 years
If we put on the outside lights all the power in the house went off... out side lights were all knackered & needed to be replaced
TV aerial didnt' work ( well it was Christmas so this was logical )
The oven door fell off and though we got it put back on again it still leaked a frightening amount of steam and needed to be replaced
Oh yeah , our cats lived under the bed for 3 weeks because the smell of the 14 cats who had lived here was obviously overpowering
There was more, but these are just the things I can remember...

So I dont' really blame jinx, but very neglectful but clever previous owners who made the house look like a magazine photo shoot for the sale, but never actually did any decent upkeep. Four years on and it's fine really!

Yes I know this feeling. We bought this house not realising the sellers did some extremely poor diy and were cheapskates. Our en-suite bathroom is cobbled together from three different suites. The roof was leaking (and I mean badly) in two different places. This is not an old house. The gas fire was leaking gas. The boiler packed in twice in the first two weeks. The garage and garden were infested with mice. The kitchen was knee deep in ants. When the washer drained, the pipes poured the water all down the drive and not the drain. They have made a study without a solid floor but out of laminate strips one on top of the other. They lied about the state of the windows. And on and on. She wonders why I won't speak to her. I would have tried to sue them for leaving the house in a dangerous condition but my DH is much more placid than me.
