To think that HALIFAX are going to get allot of people in extra debt this christmas. Charging a £1 a day you are in your arranged overdraft!

Can't believe it!

so that's £30 a months if you are only even a couple of pounds into your arranged overdraft! Fantastic.

It's £2 a day if your overdraft is over £2.500.

£5 a day if you go into an unarranged overdraft.

I'm not sure who to move to as all i have going in my MA, child tax credit, and working family tax credit.

I only have two monthly Direct debits adding up to about £60 a month.

What bank is good for someone with small monthly credits?

If everyone who banks with them, pulled out, closed accounts and didnt repay their overdrafts, they'd probably go under !

Show them who's boss !!

Is Natwest part of RBoS?

If so I need to move my account sharpish, they'll prob do the same before long...or would they have to give us notice?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 15/12/2009 14:25

Natwest is part of RBOS but this is HBOS so you should be sfae for a while yet!

Flightattendant · 15/12/2009 14:26

Thankyou

I would have changed to first direct already but you need a certain level of income which I don't have...is the co-op any good?

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 15/12/2009 14:27

Ah, but First Direct are a bunch of wankers because they wanted to charge me as I didn't pay in enough money each month and refused to be blackmailed into opening another account with them to avoid their charge. My account was/is always in credit.

I switched to Smile.

noddyholder · 15/12/2009 14:29

god this is a shocker.is it really legal to do this if the overdraft is authorised.is that the total charge or do they still charge a % and a fee?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 15/12/2009 14:31

No this replaces all other charges it is supposedly to make charges more simple to understand.
However not sure why they aren't paying interest on those with + accounts ?

SleighGirl · 15/12/2009 14:36

Nationwide is part of any bank, it's still a building society and doesn't have shareholders to pay out dividends to. Or am I wrong?

LittleMissBliss · 15/12/2009 14:49

I ment £60 in standing orders not direct debits.

I'm thinking nationwide may be an option.
I'm currently not in my overdraft (dp bailed me out) but do dip in and out of it through the year.
