To think that it's really none of anyone's business what Tiger woods has been doing?

The fact he's treated his family like shit is of course not in any doubt.

But I really don't see why it's anyone else's business.

Same with any celeb really.

Bigbadmummy · 14/12/2009 11:56

I agree.

And the fact that these slappers are all going to make money off the back for these "affairs" makes me sick.

ajandjjmum · 14/12/2009 11:57

If I'd paid him several million as he is a 'good guy' to promote my product, I'd be pretty hacked off!

No-one comes out of this well - him or his 'ladies'.

MeltedTreeChocolates · 14/12/2009 11:58

Indeed but that is the nature of being a celeb.

ThumbleBells · 14/12/2009 12:00

I agree too - it's making me sick. DH is much more "into" this stuff than I am, he keeps telling me the sordid details, despite me saying I really couldn't care less.

What's worse - him having the morals of an alleycat and being a stonking good golf player, or Kate Moss being an overpaid stick insect who snorts cocaine in public?

Either way, it's boring.

wannaBe · 14/12/2009 12:01

but he's promoting sportswear not relate.

DoingTheBestChristmasICan · 14/12/2009 12:16

YANBU i really couldnt give a teeny, tiny rats arse what these celebs get upto.

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 14/12/2009 12:18

I can't understand why anyone gives a flying fuck who he has sex with.

mayorquimby · 14/12/2009 12:20

not specifically promoting sports wear he promotes banks, watches etc. all of this is of course only because he is the greatest golfer to ever play the game but a lot of his market value also comes from portraying himself as the virtuos family man and all round good egg. Having said that of course none of these institutions would pay him this money if he couldn't swing a club even if he was a faithfully married man who cured sick puppies and fostered troubled youths no matter how nice a person he was.
But as others have said he has traded on his clean image for years so it's not suprising that it's such a big story when it all turnsd out to be fake.

ThumbleBells · 14/12/2009 12:28

Really MQ? I can safely say that I never thought of him as anything other than a good golf player, didn't have a scooby about his personal life and it didn't matter. I thought the only reason for the endorsements was because it makes suckers think "Look! Tiger Woods uses X brand, therefore if I use X brand too, I might be as good at golf/earning money as him!"
Obviously I am naive.

mistletoekisses · 14/12/2009 12:41

If he played his sports and kept out of the limelight, then I would totally agree.

But you cannot have your management/ pr team work to cultivate the 'wholesome family man' image in order to make tens of millions out of endorsements/ sponsorship deals and then expect privacy.

If that image has lined his pockets and it is a total lie; then he deserves to be outed.

mayorquimby · 14/12/2009 12:44

well for some of his brands it will of course be purely his sporting ability but for others it will be not only his obvious sporting credentials but also his squeaky clean PR image and as such they would be borrowing some of his credibility for their marketing campaigns (apparently one of the finance companies he is sponsored by in the states is ultra conservative and not happy at the moment, ditto brands like Tah Heur watches).
of course even for these brands it's 99% sports ability 1% public persona/credibility but they certainly don't like it when their brands are now being talked about in the same breath as a tabloid scandal.
I'm not saying they wouldn't have sponsored him if he hadn't had a clean image, most of them still would have, but they'd have marketed him in a different way (as is seen with certain "bad boy" athletes who will be marketed as such) but because he had the clean image the marketing has played to that strength and he's sold part of himself in that light so as i said earleir it's not suprising that there will be interest when it all comes crashing down.
That and there's a lot of schaudenfreud (sp) for some people in seeing a previously untouchable successful millionaire squirming under the spot light. Add to that his famous lack of time or reluctance to talk to any journalist where possible and i'd wager that there's a lot of members of the 4th estate who are enjoying some payback.

traceybath · 14/12/2009 12:47

But he has traded on his good/clean image to gain some extremely lucrative endorsements.

I suspect part of his contract is a not to bring into disreput clause.

I must say I find his arrogance in thinking he wouldn't get found out most astonishing.

But you are right - its not really my businesss and I feel a great deal of sympathy for his wife. Bad enough to be betrayed but for the whole world to know and speculate must be dreadful.

saadia · 14/12/2009 12:48

I agree - don't see why it has to make the national news.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 14/12/2009 12:50

But he trades on his 'clean guy' image.

LoveTheCarbs · 14/12/2009 13:06

YANBU. I don't think it's any of our business what he does in this spare time. I think it's different for politicians who campaign on a moral high ground and then get found out. My DH disagrees and feels like he did put himself out there as a good family man for his endorsements and therefore is fair game.

I feel really sorry for his wife. I mean, it's not just one night or one woman. It's many women and many nights. He should also fire his management team as they haven't handled this media storm very well.

I think the paparazzi are often well out of order. Although I can't feel sorry for the celebs who court the limelight eg Jordan, Jodie Marsh, I do feel for the other actors out there who can not walk out of their front door without being photographed. And the way they chase after people in their cars is just downright dangerous.

Tortington · 14/12/2009 13:15

if you put yourself out there to make money from your fame - you have got to take the good with the bad - and not act like a complete fucking knobhead and shit all over everything you have becuase you think you can.

MrsMattie · 14/12/2009 13:19

I agree that generally we have no right (and I personally have little interest) in the private lives of sports people / actors / politicians etc.

However, if you are a serial shagger who literally cannot keep your dick in your boxers for more than five minutes and you happen to be extremely famous, you are going to get caught out and shamed publically at some point, eh? Little sympathy for the twat.

Rachiesparrow · 14/12/2009 13:22

I don't really understand why anyone's that interested. Also, I don't think he's really 'traded' on his clean guy image. He's always been extremely closed about his private life. The ads are more about his being an exceptional sportsman than a squeaky clean family man in my opinion.

I think it was stupid of him, but really don't give a toss about what he's been up to.

ArizonaBarker · 14/12/2009 13:25

DP's a sports broadcaster and says it's all been common knowledge for years, apparently they are all 'at it'.

He is very frowny about it.

PacificMistletoeandnoWine · 14/12/2009 13:32

I am bored too.

His latetest "alleged" affair was the first item on Channel 5 new last night - I know, I know, Channel 5 , but is there truly nothing more important going on in the world?? Nothing? Nowhere?
FFS.

Surely this should all be between him, his wife, their lawyers and his sponsors.

2rebecca · 14/12/2009 14:04

Agree, I don't care. The sponsors should make their celebs sign a good behaviour document if they're that bothered.
I thought they sponsored him because he's a good golfer not because he's a paragon of virtue.
What would happen if like George Michael he admitted to a liking for regular casual sex with strange men? Will they only sponsor monogomous sportspeople?
Many famous people aren't monogomous.
Sponsorship is a fairly corrupt idea anyway.

edam · 14/12/2009 14:17

I imagine celebs who are open about having an active sex life get rather different sponsorship deals - less of the trusted or conservative family brands.

I think it is the most boring news story of the century, I am pissed off that every time I turn on the tv he is headline news. Do they not understand that the British people have no interest whatsoever in an american golfers extra marital affairs?

BitOfFun · 14/12/2009 14:29

An element of why these people earn so much is their status as role-models to young people, and he ain't looking so inspirational right now. It disgusts me when over-paid footballers, for example, commit theft, make racist attacks and treat women like shagbags. They should be sacked from their teams, IMO. Is that veering too far off the point? Same sort of thing though, I reckon. That said, I don't want to read any more about Tiger The Shagger. We get the idea.
