Yes, anti-wrinkle cream for Christmas. Is she trying to tell me something?

NanaNina - very presumptious, aren't you?

I thought of a Spa Break for her. Good idea?

MeringueUtan · 13/12/2009 16:20

its ok
hf is a wind up wank**

hf128219 · 13/12/2009 16:27

Charming. This is very serious. Do I need botox? Do I treat her to a spa break?

LynetteScavo · 13/12/2009 16:29

Yes, a spa break would be a lovely idea for her, although I think you shold make it for 2 people, as she may get lonely going on her own.

She is so considerate to give you gifts you won't sneer at, rather than cheep tat from wookies

LynetteScavo · 13/12/2009 16:30

I mean Woollies...if they were still open of course.

LynetteScavo · 13/12/2009 16:30

hf, you don't need botox, you jsut need to smile more.

Ok - a spa break it is then. Budget?

MaggieAnFiaRua · 13/12/2009 18:02

give her one of those things to file rough skin off her hooves.

MaggieAnFiaRua · 13/12/2009 18:02

and a tweezers

hf128219 · 13/12/2009 18:27

That would be mean. I was thinking (aside from a spa break) would she like s car valet?

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 13/12/2009 18:34

NO! No car valet...she will be most offended!

LynetteScavo · 13/12/2009 18:37

And jsut go for what ever it costs for a ouple of people to go to the nearest luxury spa for a short break. Just pay what is required, this isn't something you can (should) budget about.

hf128219 · 13/12/2009 18:37

You think so? She is so proud of her cleaning - I thought it would give her a break.

OP posts:
LedodgyChristmasjumper · 13/12/2009 19:00

Maybe she's trying to tell you that worrying about the way she piles books up on the coffee table will give you wrinkles?

Bigbadmummy · 13/12/2009 19:06

My (now sadly departed BIL) bought me Anti Flake leg cream last year.

All nicely wrapped in a Harvey Nicks box but even so, I could have rammed it down his throat.

My cleaner always buys us a bottle of wine which I gratefully receive as it is so sweet of her,. And we buy her a monster box of diabetic chocolate.

MollieO · 13/12/2009 19:29

How much do you pay her?? She sounds very generous. Is she your mother?

I would treat her to a spa day, preferably on her day off rather than the day she cleans for you as you wouldn't want to be paying her as well.

SantasKinkyKnickers0nMaHead · 13/12/2009 19:33
Hmm
hf128219 · 13/12/2009 19:46

I wasn't thinking of a spa day - more a weekend in a hotel. Something like the Mandarin Oriental. Or the Grove.

OP posts:
purplepeony · 13/12/2009 19:58

If you are serious, I'd say she might be embarrassed by a overly generous present.

She might rather have a pay-rise.

I also think you are being over sensitive to the present issue-just be glad she gave you something.

If you spend too much she will feel beholden and it will make her gift to you seem paltry.

hf128219 · 13/12/2009 20:01

This is the thing - she had been going on for ages about what to buy dd for Christmas. I said 'nothing'. I eventually said 'maybe a book'. And now she's gone to town!

I am so confused!

OP posts:
purplepeony · 13/12/2009 20:05

Talk straight- tell her there is simply no need to buy gifts for you - any of you- and if she really must then nothing more than a £fiver- (that's what the Queen says.)

You have no option but to accpet gratefully any current gifts, and yes, reciprocate, but not to the extent that it fuels her desire to buy you more and more again.

LynetteScavo · 13/12/2009 20:06

But hf doesn't pay her, she is a "perk", or a neccessity, which ever way you look at it.

She will not be beholden if you buy her a spa break, she will think she is apreciated.

hf128219 · 13/12/2009 20:07

LS - it is not a perk! I pay her.

OP posts:
purplepeony · 13/12/2009 20:07

What have I missed- she is a "perk"???
