To not want to buy SIL a Christmas present this year

.... unless it's something toxic like an iron gripper panty girdle in a cellulite high-lighting shade of chartreuse, or a box of parma violets or something?

She's an absolute cow and has behaved appallingly to me and to my children for the past decade.

I cringe at the thought of having to wish her well - it's all such bollocks. Saying 'just a little something' when what you want to say is 'Didn't get you anything - couldn't be arsed, you poisonous old heifer.'

you make me laugh at least but who are you talking about here?

Brunettelady · 09/12/2009 14:49

Don't get anything then. I can't be bothered with 'token' giving. If she has been a cow then cut your losses. And say what you want to say, it is really funny!!!

maeggee · 09/12/2009 14:57

That is true dont be twofaced, presents should come from the heart it might make her rethink her attitude or her feelings but I still do not know who we talking about

claudialyman · 09/12/2009 15:16

charity gift. hard to object to and some good comes of it for someone.

maeggee · 09/12/2009 15:57

charity gift is still a gift ,ahy not have a open talk before then?

tulpe · 09/12/2009 16:01

Are you actually spending time over christmas with SIL? If not, I think you are fine not to buy.

Agree with maeggee that perhaps an open talk is the best way to go but sounds like she has failed to notice that she has hurt you over the past 10 years so it may not go particularly well.

Am liking your proposed one liner to SiL though. Am mentally filing that one for poisonous heifers in my life

maeggee · 09/12/2009 16:10

AM still laughing at the wording of your disgust but 10 years is a long time and like me things that have been going on for the last 10 years and that I am realising now are killing me I just realised 3 months ago that my husband has not brought me a xmas or birthday present for the last nine years , beleive me I feel like like asking him the ones I gave him back

KEAWYED · 09/12/2009 16:12

I've said to my bil and sil not to bother this year and just get the children.

I knew what I was getting anyway.

Same as always...The free gift from boots

maeggee · 09/12/2009 16:16

I would settle for boots free gifts if I could the thing is he does not buy the kids ones I do

ChunkyKitKat · 09/12/2009 16:18

this made me laugh!

If you didn't buy a gift would she make things more difficult?

frogetyfrog · 09/12/2009 16:21

Whats wrong with the free gift from boots - I get things from their 3for2 offer and give them as presents. Is it an absolute no no??

maeggee · 09/12/2009 16:39

I think the present is not important here it is the willingness of the person who gives the present that matters and how he is with you .I still think he needs to talk to her no matter what

KEAWYED · 09/12/2009 17:21

No not that free gift.

In Summer they give out a mini lipstick and mascara if you spend so much on products.

That free gift!

maeggee · 09/12/2009 17:26

this is too funny KEAWYED I told you I do not even get that

maeggee · 09/12/2009 17:28

All I manage to do is keep some money for the kids and buy some for him with love like useful socks, perfume n aftershave but this year hell will freeze on me if I lift FINGER

Jamieandhismagictorch · 09/12/2009 17:30

maeggae - your charity idea is a good one. Buy her a goat from Good Gifts or Oxfam, or a toilet, OP

Jamieandhismagictorch · 09/12/2009 17:31

Sorry claudialyman suggested the charity gift

standandeliver · 09/12/2009 17:33

Oh that's tight KEAWYED!

Actually I've found a way round my dilemma. I phoned my brother and suggested that instead of giving each other (and each other's spouses/children) presents this year, we should all chip in and buy my mum and dad a new TV as theirs is crap, and like a lot of old people they spend half their life in front of it.

DB has gone for it, so problem solved!

Jamieandhismagictorch · 09/12/2009 17:33

cow

sweetkitty · 09/12/2009 17:34

Boots are dong a good promo on No7 just now think it's spend £22 on make up (for yourself) and you get a make up bag full of little goodies.

Even better if she realises it was a freebie

maeggee · 09/12/2009 17:40

the tv for mum and dad is good , would not make any jealous

Jamieandhismagictorch · 09/12/2009 17:43

Yes, Tv an excellent idea

(Obviously, I was not really advocating spending £92 on a cow for your SIL )

maeggee · 09/12/2009 17:50

you guys crack
me up you made my day

GroundHoHoHogs · 09/12/2009 17:55

Get her the PIG for £20....

Or is there a charity that does latrines in developing countries... buy a bog for her!!

Go for it OP, you know you want to....
