Should you get involved with neighbours drama

Our next door neighbours, who are semi-detached to us, are having increasingly violent rows. These appear to be fuelled by alcohol and are now taking place during the course of the night, which such volume that they are awakening my teenage son.

I am concerned about their two children, a 10 year old and a two year old who live with them.

Has anyone been in a similar circumstance and did they do anything or keep well out of it?

Yes, the same situation but they have a baby and we have four under five. I call the police. I have told them i will do this whenever i hear it and will call ss if i feel the child is in danger. Since i spoke to them in may they have not had a violent argument. Feel for you it is very upsetting to hear.

police

if council or HA - report to your housing officer

if worried about child safety call social services.

Call police. They will refer to SS if it seems necessary. Your details will not be disclosed.

I told the neighbours that was what I was doing as it would have been obvious that it was me. They actually were fine about it. I explained that it was not acceptable and I wouldn't expose my children to it nevermind stand by and let them hurt each other and their child. They both know it is bad behaviour and I didn't want to risk them coming over shouting the odds about me calling various people. I think it's only fair to let them know what I would do. Bit harsh, especially where SS are involved, to call secretly. The police do not inform SS about my neighbours because when they come to pick up the bloke or the dad they always slap him around a bit - nice helpful attitude.
