to expect a Mum to rinse her DD's vomit down the sink in the school cloakroom....

... and not just leave it for the next child who comes along.

Had to pop into the school toilets after dropping DS at school as DD1 (3 yo) needed a wee. In there was a girl in DS's class coughing and throwing up into the sink. I asked the Mum if she was poorly again, as she came into school 2 wks ago having spent the night vomiting but "she didn't want to miss anything so I broght her in anyway". Mum replied that no it was just phlegm as she's got such a bad cough. Thought nothing of it, turned to DD1 to help her with her tights. Went to wash our hands to find the sink that the girl had been using had milk and phlegm vomit all round the bowl! WTF! Is it really too much to expect you to clear up after your daughter or even show her how to rinse the sink herself?

Good manners aside surely you'd tidy/clean up for hygine reasons.

Rant over.

nice judging.

yes she should have cleaned up a bit more but was probably dying to get away from old judgy pants.

ajandjjmum · 08/12/2009 15:00

Not unreasonable at all.

swissmiss · 08/12/2009 15:03

fine, GGHD, I am judging her but having had to clear the sink so we could use it I'm somewhat annoyed at her. Cleaning up other kids vomit is not my idea of fun. Yours?

YANBU

She could have cleaned up after her child.

RainRainGoAway · 08/12/2009 15:05

Totally gross and unhygienic.
Don't blame you for being a 'judgypants' on this one.

Don't let the emetophobes see this one.

RJRabbit · 08/12/2009 15:06

YANBU at all. That's foul.

That is revolting. Judge away.

OtterInaSkoda · 08/12/2009 15:37

Maybe she was in a rush and planning to come straight back to clean it properly (ie not just rinse away) after dropping her dd off at her classroom.
It would be pretty grim not to disinfect the basin so perhaps it was better to leave it as it was until she could come back, so that nobody inadvertently used it beforehand. In which case she was being sensible and you were BU.
Or she could just be a minger I suppose, in which case YANBU.

swissmiss · 08/12/2009 15:56

she didnt come back. dropped her DD in class and left the building. she cant have been in a rush anywhere as she was stood outside chatting when i finally went.

That's disgusting. AND you're not be a 'judgy-pants' either

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/12/2009 16:03

The emetophobes have already seen this (well, I have anyway).

Utterly gross.

But you know what horrifies me more? That she left her child in school afterwards and did not take her home straight away. That poor child should not have been in school if she was coughing enough to vomit.

That said, my ds had a tummy upset which affected his other end last week. On Friday afternoon, he was late coming out of school and eventually emerged and told me he had been on the loo and had messed his pants (and, it turned out, a lot more ). I took him home for a shower and fresh clothes but it did occur to me afterwards he must have made a huge mess in the loo and perhaps I should have informed the school before leaving.

So I can see that this woman might have had other things on her mind, but it is no excuse really and it is horrid to think the poor child was left at school afterwards.

ChristmasMoon · 08/12/2009 16:03

That IS disgusting, I would have heaved (being one of previously mentioned emetophobes!). I have a bad cough at the moment and have made myself sick through coughing a couple of times recently but would never ever ever leave it for someone else to clean
