Is it unreasonable to park opposite someone's drive?

Its a normal width road, you can easily get 2 cars past each other on the road. Not a busy road as its a dead end. If there are no other spaces available would you park opposite someone's drive, leaving enough room for them to get in and out but it would make it a bit tight.

I did this over the weekend and have had a snotty note put under my wiper "you are causing an obstruction, next time I'm calling the police".

I think the tone of the note has got my back up and am tempted to put a note through their door saying "call the police all you want, no yellow lines so I can park there"

We have a dropped kerb/drive, and to be honest I would prefer people to park opposite rather than right up against it, more often than not we have a car at least 1/3 car length across the drive, making it extremely difficult to get any 'swing' in, very narrow road hence why people have done the dropped kerbs in the first place!! It's certainly a difficult one where the road is narrow, and when you have dropped kerbs on both sides like our street, it is a no-win situation.

It is irritating if it makes it tight to get out of their driveway. We have a similar thing in our Close and our driveway is a pain without cars in the way. I'm an inexperienced driver so it always stresses me out and I'm too chicken to knock on the neighbour's door and ask their visitors to move their car Plus, I don't need an audience to my rubbish manoeuvring!!

However, if you've parked on the road and there's clearly no other spaces then I would be annoyed (at the general lack of parking provision etc) but understanding.

We have this on our road and the council are going to come out and paint yellow lines to stop people doing it (in response to complaints from the Residents Association). So, at least round here, it's treated as a legitimate concern.

The opposite drive thing doesn't affect me personally as I'm not on that stretch of road (but the people there are all elderly and find it difficult enough without inconsiderate parkers).

But the people dumping their cars in my street all day are quite irritating as there are plenty of car parks, they are just too tight to shell out for them. Started moving into our road when the ones nearer the station got parking restrictions.

And this street wasn't laid out as a car park, it's a 1970s cul de sac with drives and parking bays for the residents - the rest of the road has sharp bends, cross roads and T junctions, where it's illegal to park, but the cheapskates do, the lazy buggers. It's dangerous for the kids playing out, too.

So the council are going to put yellow lines on all those junctions and sharp bends. I'm looking forward to the morning the commuters turn up and realise they can't just dump their cars on us all day!

Have a rear access road at the back of my house, and my neighbour has essentially built a car park in his back garden. Today there are 3 vans parked there, and another on the front. He regularly leaves snotty notes about people parking opposite making it hard to get his large commercial vehicles into his car park, which would be much easier if he'd set his wall back and/or made the entrance larger.
