me - full of horrid stinky cold, very stressed, just moved house and generlaly feeling crap.
Had a yucky day with DS yesterday cos darling DS got up at 4am and by 3pm was in hyperdrive of whinge, cry and moan.

Today, trying to fight my way through packing boxes to sort out the house, get through the weekends washing (which currently invovles picking my way, in the driving hail, across the 5ft hole in the patio to the garage where the washing machine is)

Got upstairs and temporary clothes rail ollapsed, so I sat down and bawled.

DH sent DS (4) over to give me a hug, so poor DS (who had actually been a sweetie today) though he had done something wrong and kept apologising.
Dh din't ask me anything or come over at all.
When I managed to stop I said the DH - I would have liked a hug from you.
his 'reason' for not giving me a hug?

It was too difficult because you were sat on the floor

1hr later, on going out to the shop - DH says "what do you need"
I said "milk and fruit"
his response "oh next i'd get it all in the big order from asda, that would just be sensible. Why didn't you get a big order?"
I say - through gritted teeth "I did get a big order on tuesday, but I've had a cold and we got through the order quickly,"
"oh well why didn't you order more"
"because I can't always order enough fresh stuff to last me the whole 2 weeks in between our big asda orders, and as I said I've had a cold so we ran out of fruit more quickly than we usually do"
"oh well, next time you should get more"

2 hrs alter
DH "which soup do you want for lunch"
this is asked while I am still getting my coat and scarf off
me: "I dont' knwo just yet, hang on a tick"
DH: "well if you did know, what woudl it be"
me: "I don't know right now, give me a second"
DH: "well we have X, do you want X"
Me: - walk off ito bahtoom to prevent myself from throwing soup at his head
come out, look at soup, decide to have soup A
DH: "and how did you decide to have A, when five minutes ago you didn't know, what process did you go through to arrive at that decision"
me: "i'm going to bloody throttle you"
DH: "oh thats right everyone have a go at me"

am I at all unreasonable for being ever so slightly pissed off with him for the rest of the day?

Agree with Shiney. However, I probably would've hurled a tin of soup at him simply for asking me what process I used to arrive at that decision. It's a frigging tin of soup man!

YABU for not throwing the can of soup at his head! But seriously, we can all be a bit scratchy/pernickity/bloody minded at times, especially when there is obviously so much going on in your lives. Deep breath ...

I think that is a good thing OP. He is clearly trying to do things better with you for you as a couple. He asked a question, you were snappy and a bit unfair.

I think you need to just try and relax with him a little. No need to get so wound up.

Some people are not the natural huggers. My DH is a 'What you crying for? Don't let X upset you' kind of person so I just am blunt with him and say shush and gimme a cuddle.

Sorry you have a cold and I dont blame you for not feeling sexy with one. Too much phlem aint there?

Ha, is that how you spell it shiney??? Phlegm? I couldn't decide....

Yes bed sounds like a plan.....

halia · 07/12/2009 09:19

oh yep, phlegm and a hacking cough make shagging really - messy (and not in a good way)
"sorry darling can you hold off your orgasm while I get a tissue and hack up great goblets of green slime" doesn't exactly keep the fire going does it.

Gods who invented the awful idea of moving house?
