you really couldn't meet a quieter little boy he is so caring and adorable. Anyway today he has been bullied/hit/elbowed/punched by 11 girls in his class...the school did nothing.

I am furious, I really wish i was 10 again because I would show them what it feels like, yes i know thats not the right way to feel. But he is my baby, cannot really explain the way we are but we are so close.

He was so upset little cows!!!!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What's the school's explanation for doing nothing?

cornsilkwearscorsets · 04/12/2009 23:13

what happened?

TLESinChristmasStockings · 04/12/2009 23:16

inmy, My sister works so normally friends/family pick the 2 boys up....so she didn't know until 5pm when there was nobody there. She would not tell me at the time because she knows i will do everything to protect him (she had 7 miscarriages before having him) and will not sit back and let this happen.

School never even sent a letter home!!!

Corn, sorry was not ignoring you!
All I know is they hit, kicked and punched him (he and his friend told my sister later on this evening) and he was so upset and got in such a state that he was in bed by 6

Do u definately know this for sure? That ELEVEN girls did this to him? Did he tell you this or did a teacher or someone else? Do u know for sure that the school did absolutely nothing? Did he tell you that they did nothing or someone else?

If the school did nothing did they definately know the whole situation? Or did it happen when no-one noticed and if so did anyone tell them about it?

Just need to know the facts before we can say UABU or not

cornsilkwearscorsets · 04/12/2009 23:21

poor lad

pinkyredrose · 04/12/2009 23:21

But I agree it sounds a horrid situation and obviously something happened. Hope the wee one is ok x

TLESinChristmasStockings · 04/12/2009 23:24

Pinky, put it this way when it comes to the school dealing with situations like this...

18m ago for 9 months he hid under a bench every lunch time because a group of kids were bullying him and the staff in the playground didn't see....when asked they said "He mentioned something but we just never saw it"

We stood one day and watched, the staff just stood talking not really watching the kids much at all.

My God that's so out of order, the playground staff were taking no notice at all by the sound of it n he hid under a bench for 9 months!!! The staff are negligent, anything could happen , to say 'we just never saw it' just isn't good enough. I'm horrified at thier reaction!

Of course you should be involved, I think if this bullying is happening and being allowed to continue I think everyone should be involved!

Can you speak to the parents of his friend? Do you know any parents of the girls involved and is it possible to speak to them? They may have no idea of how thier girls are behaving. You and your sister should go to the head right away!!

YANBU Speaking as the mother of a son who was so tormented by bullies that he ended up requiring intensive psychiatric treatment -

Do not belive a word school tells you - belive the child. Schools lie.

Schools prefer to turn a blind eye to bullying as they are powerless to deal with it (as told to me by a teacher at the school) - they prefer to hide behind their ineffectual 'Bullying Policy'

Yes - 11 scumbags against one poor victim seems incredible but my experiences have taught me differently. The pack mentality at work.

If you do complain ensure you do so in writing and always copy it to someone else, i.e. write to the Head and copy it to the Chair of Governors - you'd be surprised how schools will deny receiving a letter.

If you can then do name names. they must take action when a bully is named.

Please do get involved on your nephew's behalf. bullying can destroy a child - I'm still dealing with the aftermath a decade later.

You obviously care for him a lot so please make sure you fight for him - it would terrible for him to think that nobody cares or is willing to take action for him.

Best wishes

I hate bullying & if anyone seen the Tonight special last Monday on bullying, then my neighbours daughter was on it telling Chris Tarrant about her ds's experience.

He was set upon by a gang of older children & was lured to a out of sight area of the play ground by a girl pretending to be his friend.he was that traumatised he wet himself & the school left him like that till home time.

There was no explanation or apology, when they took it further they admitted the ring leader was from a home with 'issues' & the best way to deal with his violence is to ignore him!

Stick up for you dn like others have said.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 05/12/2009 15:55

I have told my sister (not asked) that I will be collecting DN from school on Monday.

I had enough experience from ds1 being bullied to not allow this to happen to DN.

I do care so very much about him, having waited so long for him to actually get here iyswim???

Sis has taken him out today but I will be calling her again later and making sure she writes a letter to the school otherwise i will be!
