to wonder why people pay £14 upwards for a photo of their DC in their first shoes?

Cos that's all you get when you go to clarks...just bought DS's shoes in Brantano, the woman seemed to measure his feet perfectly competantly and I had two styles of clarks shoes to choose from, at £14 each. If they aren't half sizes either you can go for even cheaper styles.

Clarks have really done a good job of promotong their brand as the 'only' place to buy your kids' shoes haven't they!

Thoroughly recommend brantano, by the way.

I feel the same kat, who cares if they are 'last season'. DS isn't exactly going to know any better!

But the shoes at our Brantano are usually the same price as Clarks, and have less choice of sizes.

Clarks are pants....I usually go for Startrite or Ricosta, although DH will buy Clarks is he is sent school shoe shopping.

Well Lynette I don't know, but I was told that they always have several styles of clarks in the sale, and they had two styles in DS's size. Maybe they vary.

I never got a free photo! I was told you get one but when I bought my DS's first shoes the other week we weren't offered one (this is from Clarks).

I have never even heard of having a photo of shoes . We used to get the shoes in clarks until we had our son measured bought the shoes and the very next day his feet were cut to ribbons out walking. We took them back and have never bothered having his feet measured etc again.

We go to whatever shop either has shoes we like or shoes we can afford, put them on their feet and make them walk around. If the shoes dont fit they dont walk correctly. We have never had a problem with shoes since then. Clarks are over priced anyway and if they charge for some strange shoe photo thats even worse!

My dd's shoes are made of a rare eel skin only available in a certain corner of Croatia where the women of the village massage the eels daily to ensure flexibility and suppleness of the leather. Honestly though, she got a pair of snow boots last night that are eye bleedingly green and she tookto bed with her. They are for a size 30-32 so not fitted at all . The shoes she wears mainly are geox and I have found that they vary so much even in her alleged size. Some models are far too big, some too small so it's a question of trying several pairs on.

I don't mind paying a fair price for decent shoes fitted by competent people. For that reason I avoid Clarks and Brantano as I have never encountered either in their stores.
