to not be able to face a third day of this?

Stupid van has broken so I have no transport as DH takes the car to work. DS's playgroup is a half hour walk away for me, 45-60 mins with a 3 year old who whinges and wants to sit on every bench we pass. There is no public transport that goes that way.

That wouldn't be so bad in itself, we could just walk, apart from the fact that DS2 (15m) has D&V and has been projectiling. DS1 only has a 2.5 hour session at playgroups and in total we'd spend 2 hours walking to and from, assuming DS2 and I just stayed there and waited for him to finish - you get teh picture, it's not worth it.

So we've been stuck in the house since Tuesday, unable to really go out bar a half hour stroll to the shops and back, because I'm changing DS2 every half an hour and cleaning up vom.

I'm now facing day 3 of being stuck in, DS2 won't stop whinging, poor DS1 is basically plonked in front of CBeebies and I'm MNing my ass off to keep myself sane. But I don't think I can get through another 7 hours like this, and then probably the same again tomorrow. These are days of our lives we will never get back and we're essentially incarcerated. Doesn't help that it's pissing it down and has been for days.

So, AIBU to start unravelling and find this very difficult to cope with? Or shoudl I jsut be taking this on the chin? I could make dens/cakes and have adventures but I can't summon the motivation, DS1 just wants to watch tv anyway and DS2 wont' shut up or be put down. (Besides, we made cakes yesterday, and I ate 'em, so now I'm fat and miserable.)

And yes, sorry, OP, meant to send you sympathy - I'd be declaring it a pyjama day and watching TV (provided we had any clean ones which you may not).

But also agree that after two days of that with a LO I think it's time to get the doctor out.

Wonder how many MNetters calling it would take to get the dealer to make an 'ex gratia' gesture and help Riven out?

Stigaloid · 03/12/2009 12:32

YANBU to be climbing the walls but it is probably best that you stay indoors when you have a child with D&V. HOpe he gets well soon.

ginnybag · 03/12/2009 12:41

Lol at Mnetters calling...

Can you imagine the poor dealer's face.

'Hi, I'm calling from Mumsnet... you may have heard of it... well, you're being a c**k and we thought we'd tell you so...'

What d'you reckon... five calls? Ten? Twenty?

There's enough of us to give him one heck of a headache by close of business tomorrow.

Just a shame we can't call and complain to the makers of D&V bugs.

'Excuse me, Mr Bacteria of Bacteria Co. Inc. We don't like your product very much. Can we have a refund...'

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 03/12/2009 12:44

rofl at idea of being able to call and complain about bugs...I so wish we could .

Thank you for all the moral support - have eaten some dark chocolate hobnobs and am feeling a bit cheerier.

I thought DS2 had perked up a bit (nothing too dodgy from either end yesterday afternoon) but then we were up again at 1am changing his bedding. I've got to the point where I rarely go to the doctor anymore (I can tell myself to give them paracetamol and fluids and save myself several hours of arsing about) but if things aren't any better by this evening I'll see if I can get him in after hours.

Saucepan - I am near you (how did you know?!) used to live in S'port, now in S.Manc and it has not stopped raining since about 1968! I wouldn't mind if it snowed but this is pants! Whereabouts are you?

Riven - I like ginny's idea - post the number and we can take it in turns calling!

Oh, in that case...

Have you still got the initial order papers? If it says, anywhere at all, that the vehicle needed to be modified for two wheelchairs, then the vehicle you were sent is not 'fit for purpose' therefore the contract is null and void, therefore they cannot charge for early termination.

That would make Motability liable.

If the paperwork does not say this, and th dealer filled it in, then he is liable for this cost through his poor customer service.

You've probably thought of both of these already, I guess, but just thought I'd make the suggestion.

It always naffs me off when these schemes that are supposedly set up to help people just cause aggro! You'd think they'd be more bloody understanding but they never are.

Of course, motability is funded by government money... you might try complaining to your MP.

Riven - that's really awful. The dealer should pay the 250 as a gesture of goodwill. Come on Mumsnetters - there must be something we can do to help Riven and her family....

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 04/12/2009 12:37

Riven - it's your call, easy enough to drum up lots of outraged MNetters to help the dealer/Motability see the benefit of being nice, but not quite sure how to do so whilst keeping your anonymity.

OP - hoping ds2 is better today? Must be the time of year..I have ds1 at home for the third day this week with the same problem, though he is trying to persuade me he will be well enough to play rugby tomorrow. I think not !

ohmeohmy · 04/12/2009 12:50

Do you think David Cameron might put in a word for you Riven? err probably not

OP hope thinhgs looking brighter

ohmeohmy · 04/12/2009 12:51

thinhgs? things
