to not want to be soaked by stupid car drivers

who drive through puddles and create waves of water that soak you from head to toe.

Stupid, bloody, tosser of a car driver this afternoon when I was walking home. Cars were driving round a very deep, long puddle and this wanker just sped through it creating a tidle wave about 6 foot high. My little one who was walking beside me, the pushchair and I were soaked to the skin. Little one was screaming as it was a shock and to be honest with the sheer volume of water it hurt when it hit us.

To add insult to injury when I shook my fist at him I saw hin flip me the finger, so he knew what he was doing. I wish I had got his nuber plate but I was busy dealing with a distraught 2.5 yo.

It's not the first time it has happened on that stretch of pavement either. I've been caught a couple of times. Pisses m off as the drivers know what they are doing.

Oh no, what a loser...and what a bummer that you didn't get his registration... I think you can be fined for deliberately splashing people!!

UpYourViva · 02/12/2009 16:14

I think you can be fined like Bex said. Poor you, i cant believe someone would so deliberately soak someone epcecially when theyve got children with them

ln1981 · 02/12/2009 19:51

What a prick. And to do it when you have a small child with you. some folk really have no idea. was your wee one ok?

bellavita · 02/12/2009 20:01

I feel your pain. A couple of years ago when I was walking down to school to pick up DS2, a car drove past me and hit the bloody huge puddle, I could see what was going to happen but couldn't get out of the way quick enough. I was fuming and to add insult to injury, it was the bloody school lady vicar! I was soaked head to toe.

edam · 02/12/2009 20:05

Oh, this really winds me up. Extremely rude and obnoxious behaviour by the drivers.

When ds was in nursery, there was a pothole right outside the parents' door. You had no choice but to wait on that exact spot so you could be seen on their entry system videophone thingy. The number of times bastard stupid drivers decided to soak me... I hope once it dried up their cars were shat on by a whole flock of pigeons!

MrsGokWan · 02/12/2009 21:33

Managed to get him calmed down eventually. The force of the water really hurt him and me, plus it was cold.

I know the puddles are visible because when I am in the car we can avoid them quite happily and have watched other drivers avoid them.

Thing is this not the first time someone has done this. Why are some drivers such assholes.

Will be popping in to the council offices tomorrow to find out who is responsible for dealing with the road.

What others have said - you can be done for driving without due care and attention for that.

What an absolute twat. Poor you and kids.

BouncingTurtle · 02/12/2009 21:51

Utter twat No excuse he should have tried to avoid it.

Bigbadmummy · 02/12/2009 21:54

This is appalling!!

I slowed down to avoid doing this yesterday as I saw a chap walking his dog get drenched by the guy in the car in front.

I slowed down and edged through the puddle.

Only to get a tirade of abuse from teh guy in the car behind when he pulled up beside me at the lights for "holding up the fucking traffic".

Gave as good as I got in response. Arsewipe

Least the man and his dog didnt get soaked

Glitterknickaz · 02/12/2009 22:03

See.... I really enjoy making these walls of water.

HOWEVER.... being the responsible motorist I NEVER do it when there are pedestrians or any other pavement/road users about.

tiredfeet · 02/12/2009 22:18

YANBU, someone did this to me, fairly deliberately, I was on my way to work, was soaked to the bone, ended up with full blown flu a few days later.

It is an offence though, so the police did take it seriously and took his details. They would have been able to do more though if I had had witnesses (unfortunately was a quiet road)

don't just take it, do report it.

I understand that sometimes it can be almost unavoidable for car drivers, but where there is an element of deliberateness / recklessness then it is disgusting behavoiour.

Petsville · 02/12/2009 22:23

V. sorry to hear this happened to you. I'm sorry to say it wouldn't have made any difference if you'd got his registration plate. It may be technically driving without due care and attention but there's absolutely no point in reporting it: you weren't hospitalised so the police won't take any notice. I got knocked off my bike at a roundabout a couple of weeks ago (I had right of way: someone just didn't see me), had a witness and reported it to the police - got a letter back saying they're not interested. They basically don't want to know about traffic offences unless someone's badly hurt or dead.

ChilloHippi · 02/12/2009 22:25

What an idiot he must be to do that. I am always very careful not to do it.

MrsGokWan · 02/12/2009 23:14

Thanks ladies,

I was so mad this afternoon, I really could of swung for someone.

Will definatly go and see if the road can be sorted but I have the feeling the answer will be something along the lines of foxtrot oscar. SO might end up having to get in touch with our town councillor etc. etc.
