why does a trifle signify xmas...its stale swiss roll and custard

YADNBU though it's marginally better than the 'five prawn rings' ad from last year.

LetThereBeRock · 02/12/2009 18:48

Lady fingers and custard here, unless it's the banana and caramel version in which case it's ginger cake and custard.

MistletoeMonster · 02/12/2009 18:48

It's truly awful isn't it, a really good advert for not never shopping at Iceland.

alypaly · 03/12/2009 10:58

what the hell are rocky mountain cakes....lumps of plastic...vom uurggh...Are they trying to brain wash us in between every programme. I really dont want to stay on that channel, but i like the programmes. All the family is cringing now.

Just last night we were talking about how awful the cheesecake on that ad looked which is amazing becauae cheesecake is normally a firm favourtie in our house!. Although I admit my gran got these duck wrap things from there once and they were really nice. No iceland near us so I cant speak with any other experience than that.
OP I find the ad annoying although I find the sainsburys ads just as annoying. I have no idea why they just make me want to turn the telly off (shock horror)

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/12/2009 11:11

The advert where they attempt to lead us to believe 'celebrities' shop at Iceland?

'Celebrities' like those 'Z' listers on the ad I guess.... but not real celebrities.

alypaly · 03/12/2009 11:15

you mean they are even on the list

OP posts:
sillyoldfatcatpuss · 03/12/2009 11:15

Not at all ... in fact you can come round and chuck a brick through ours as well when you're done.

alypaly · 03/12/2009 11:19

decided the suggestion to throw a brick at icelands window was less costly,to me

The ads are an institution... although I miss Kerry Katona, seeing the smile draining off Jason Donovan's face leaving him staring into the black abyss of his soul a gingerbread cheesecake cheers me up no end. I give him 6 months before he's in rehab again.

Iceland party food generator

alypaly · 03/12/2009 11:35

an institution....they are going to put me in one

BouncingTurtle · 03/12/2009 11:45

At least they got rid of KK.

"That's why mums go to Iceland".

That fucking slogan winds me up. Surely that should have gone out with the Ark???

YANBU, alypaly!

alypaly · 03/12/2009 11:50

OMG its on again anyone got a hangmans noose

i thought marketing people had to come up with new ideas to keep their jobs....obviously Iceland havent got a marketing department of note

OP posts:
tethersend · 03/12/2009 12:14

But we're all talking about the ad, right?

So perhaps the marketing department know exactly what they're doing

alypaly · 03/12/2009 12:18

yeah...subliminal advertising......the worst kind...but it still wouldnt make me go there. In fact i think it has the opposite effect.....that sort of advertising definitely doesnt work on me...but i guess it does work on some as its used alot in the states.

cheap advertising,cheapfood,cheap crap

OP posts:
juneybean · 03/12/2009 12:40

Don't care for the advert but I actually like the food.

tethersend · 03/12/2009 12:47

Won't someone try the Iceland party food generator?

It made me laugh but perhaps I'm wrong...
