My daughter has a really busy month with other kids Birthday parties, Her birthday being end of december, I havent been able to book anywhere before then as other kids have birhday parties, and venues are fully booked.....So I booked a party on 27th, day after boxing day, My husband thinks nobody will want to bring their kids so soon after christmas day?...so now Im paniking...Ive paid the deposit...I will invite 40 kids altoghter, I was wondering If any mums out there would take their little ones to a party, if they were invited to one on that day for a coulpe of hours?? :s Or should I cancel?

Well, it would be sad for your dd but I think I would cancel. I would assume a lot of people would go away or be with their families

My bet would be that after 3 days trapped in the house together, parents will be beating the bloody door down to get their dcs to the party.

Will be just what they need

I´m with tethersend

I think those who haven´t gone away visiting will think it´s fine.

I would certainly let my child go.

I can bring my three if you want! Day after Boxing day I'm sure parents and kids will want to get out and about.

Kids who have gone away won't come, kids with relatives they rarely see staying with them may not come, other kids may come if parents remember party amidst xmas chaos.
I would only have done this if the kids are old enough to remember the party themselves and hassle their parents, but probably wouldn't have done anything that big, that near xmas. ? have a mid Jan party? My stepdaughter's birthday is middle of summer holidays and she has party to celebrate birthday the week after the kids are back at school and just does family stuff on her birthday.
If the child is under 10 you may find few there.

27th is my DD's birthday and for the reasons you've mentioned, we hold her party early in NY.

If we were at home, I would definitely take her to a party, but I would probably want to wait till a couple of days beforehand to confirm to be sure I wasnt going to miss a family or friends 'do'

JollyMrsChristmas · 02/12/2009 10:00

I got married a few days before christmas, hardly anyone turned up!

WhoIsAskingSantaForCake · 02/12/2009 10:02

From a different standpoint, I threw a christmas party for my DCs one year.

Ne-hever AGAIN. It was super super stressful, all the children came (obviously, as their parents were mad keen to get rid of them for a few hours) and they were ALL completely over the top excited. I am a veteran party thrower, but honestly, I would never do it again, especially the day after boxing day.

Thanks for your messages people, I just phoned the party venue, and they kindly moved my date to the 29th...might still have the problem with not many kids turning up, if 10 turn up out of 40, Id be happy, (plus it would be cheaper) I just want my daughter to have a party. Thanks again

My DS is 2 on the 27th. We are having a party for him and so far nobody has said no although I have a couple that haven't replied yet, but no more than the usual no's any other time of the year. We had his 1st birthday last year and everybody came. I think it is lovely (but stressful to organise) to have a party during the xmas period. Everybody is in a party mood and nobody has anything to do as they have done it all before xmas. The only people that may not come is those that are away and those with long distant relatives visiting.

HuwEdwards · 02/12/2009 10:35

29th much better

2rebecca · 02/12/2009 11:12

I'd have thought 29th better as people who've gone away for Xmas may be back by then and a bit early to go away for new year.

Pikelit · 02/12/2009 13:00

29th will be very much better and, in terms of attendance, anyone who isn't actually away will probably be delighted to lose their children for an afternoon!
