To think this magazine should not be in the 'Kid's section' in Tescos? It has freaked my DD out completely.

Perhaps IABU but I asked the 'Am I bovvered' manager of our local Tescos to move Playstation 2 magazine off the bottom row as the bloke bleeding from his mouth has given my dd (age 5 - and quite a tough nut really) nightmares for the last couple of nights.

He said 'head office told them to put it there' but agreed to move them. DD was freaked out again today as bleeding gob man was back next to CBeebies Magazine.

Great - another night of screaming. Bastards. AIBU to think they could for once replace it with Gardners World magazine?

yanbu

I don't think adult oriented magazines should be in sight of children (particularly things like 'Nuts' and violent video game stuff)

Miggsie · 27/11/2009 13:57

I don't think the people who plan the shelf arrangements ever have to travel round the store with a toddler.

I think it should be mandatory for all shop managers to do this regularly.

RainRainGoAway · 27/11/2009 13:59

Thanks. Think will write to Tesco head office about this. I am so arsey about it right now. Next thing you know they will think its ok to put Tits Monthly next to Princess magazine.

YANBU, not at all.
In fact, I bought a PS3 at the weekend as a Christmas gift for DS, and the salesman told me that PS and the like are aimed at over-14's, so you are definately NBU.

CarryOnDancing · 27/11/2009 16:28

YANBU I think the '18' badge appearing right next to the bleeding man should offer the manager some explanation of your opposition to it!

I'm a little concerned as to why head office have specifically stated it should be on that shelf?!

May I suggest changing supermarkets or avoiding the magazine aisle, it seems the only way to avoid your sons nightmares, in the short term at least.

DanDruff · 27/11/2009 16:30

not nice

DanDruff · 27/11/2009 16:31

TheFoosa · 27/11/2009 16:39

someone had placed Nuts '25 top tits' in the kid's section in my Tesco today

MmeLindt · 27/11/2009 16:45

YANBU. Very inappropriate.

cumbria81 · 27/11/2009 17:08

YABU.

A small amount of children might be frightened by it but I think it's a little ott for the whole store to be planned out for toddlers, including the magazine rack.

Personally, I don't think it's the end of the world if a child gets a glimpse of Nuts magazine etc.

shockers · 27/11/2009 17:17

It's rated 18... moving it wouldn't be planning the whole store out for toddlers, it would be acting appropriately.
YANBU !

CarryOnDancing · 27/11/2009 17:28

Cumbria do you have children? If not please don't! If so please consider how disgusting your comment is!!

wukter · 27/11/2009 17:29

YANBU.

RainRainGoAway · 27/11/2009 17:30

Cumbria - its always nice to have the voice of dissent !

A small amount of children has been bothered by it. My child. So I am bothered.

Is it really so much to ask the shop not to put 18 rated covers infront of kids faces? Having said that, the cover of Good housekeeping is pretty pukesome this year and Im not sure it would be a better option!

And, Cumbria, perhaps whilst I request to them that Tescos positions 'Minge Monthly' next to Hannah Montana magazine, they might usefully arrange the razor blades to be accessible for DS(2)? Wouldn't want to cause them any bother after all...

clumsymum · 27/11/2009 17:47

I would guess that some guy/girl has been given a trolley full of magazines , told to go and put them on the racks, without any further explanation or training on the matter, and has done so. So the offending magazine has been shoved into an empty space on the rack, without anyone actually THINKING about what they are doing.

Yes it shouldn't have been put there, yes you are justified in pottering along to customer services, asking for the section manager, and showing him/her.

But in the scheme of things it's not a heinious crime, is it?

RainRainGoAway · 27/11/2009 17:49

No, not really a heinous crime. But once it had been pointed out to the manager that it upset a child, and I had been reassured they would be moved, then it is a bit shitty.
