This particular chicken botherer needs to be taught a lessson.
What kind of trap would anyone recommend?

One with two smoking barrels.

You can't outfox a fox. They are as cunning as well, foxes.

But if I were to outfox a fox it would involve some sort of comedy bucket of water over gate type scenario. Maybe also involving flour. That's it! Papier-mache the fox!

Have you tried the foxwatch? (I haven't, but have heard people rave about them) Perhaps a local farmer will help you out? Are you in a suburban setting? I suppose you've thought about an electric fence

Shoot it! Sake!

I wonder of tiger poo would do it? It's supposed to frighten all kinds of animals off - ie the spoor of master predator. Not sure where you'd get it from though

So far I have dug a deep hole, covered it with sticks, then a layer of grass and leaves. The outfoxing part comes in me laying my perky chicken oven glove on top of this pit as light begins to fail.
I expect to be woken by the nasty screech of
falling bushy tails in the early hours of the morning
Whaat do you think?

(pikelit's suggestion v tempting)

My dad has caught nearly 50 squirrels this year (dont ask!)
A fox seems a bit too big for his method though

Is it possible to make your chicken house etc more fox proof?

Trouble is if you get rid of this fox something else will move into its territory I would have thought - another fox perhaps?

We've got a small "petting zoo" up the road. If they can't supply the poo they could always send the proprietor's wife round. She's bitten the heads off everyone I know.
