Last night I was at a Rob Brydon gig - a comedy gig that started at 8 and finished at 10.45.

There were loads of parents with kids - some as young as 8 Perhaps half a dozen families.

I really judged. It was the most inappropriate place to take children - surely everyone knows it's adult comedy - there was numerous 'fucks' and the occasional 'cunt', and lots of rude jokes and anecdotes.

Am I so out of step - do others really think that's an ok gig to take them to?

UQD - tbh I have no idea about MM. I have never had the pleasure of attending anything of the like due to the inability to afford a ticket. I have to wait for them to be shown on TV!

Although I did say I was being OTT. As far as I saw it, comedian = adult humour.

I still stand by my point though that the OP is NBU and it is completely irresponsible to be taking an 8yo to see adult humour on a school night.

Sharing an audience with children at an adult gig would piss me off a little and make a funny night a little less shiny.

ND....Frankie Boyle is brilliant but don't sit near the front, he will talk to you!!

Unquietdad - Michael Mcintyre is a bit "bluer" live than on TV, fine for a 14+ , but not a 9yr old imho.

posieparker -don't worry I made sure that I booked seats far enough back to not be picked on

UnquietDad · 25/11/2009 14:28

No, I wasn't implying the comedy tent was a good idea. But I was referring to people who have been tutted at for actually taking their kids to the V festival for example.

Also happy for kids to be festivals but feel a little sorry for the little ones being dragged around late at night when they are so clearly exhausted and I don;t think that the comedy tents are the right place if the comedians in question are known for their adult humour.

Had my first festival experience this year and have to say loved it.

I highly recommend getting together with a couple if ither families and taking a nanny with you though to be able to enjoy the night time as thats what we did! Felt very extravagabt but was well worth it and she had fun too.

Ha YANBU - there were really small kids (6 or so) when we went to see Frankie Boyle in Hammersmith.

His support act asked the kids to ask their mother whether she gave their dad a blow job every night. Ha ha.
