YANBU!

My son was 1 on the 7th.

I could eat him all up

BrigitBigKnickers · 21/11/2009 23:58

I so know what you are talking about.

My DDs are 13 (yuk) and 11(nearly yuk) with hormones arampaging.

I watch their toddler videos with a tear in my eye. I love them to bits but would give anything to spend just one day with their toddler selves again. (but not the nights I hasten to add- they tend to sleep now!)

dwpanxt · 21/11/2009 23:59

Ah Bless . Gush away.
No YANBU but you may find that every single day of his life you will want him to stay at that perfect age.
Take lots of photos and videos of him.Its not the same but it will help you recall the special days.

choosyfloosy · 22/11/2009 00:00

ah, those sweet shiny round cheeks!

the first three years year was all about survival for me but I do think sometimes of that round face with its apparently permanent grin of joy

echt · 22/11/2009 01:29

Oh yes, take the pix while you can. My 14 year-old DD scowls at all attempts to take a photo. These will be "the missing years".

shabbapinkfrog · 22/11/2009 02:16

Im a proud mum of 4 DS's - my eldest son has a 17 month old delicious little lad...I have been babysitting for him tonight while my DS and his fantastic DP have been to the cinema.

I look at my GSon and think 'OMG where did those years go....how come his Daddy will soon be 28 years old?'

Treasure every single minute, Im sure you already do. I have found though that there are good and bad parts in every age....my eldest is almost 28 and my youngest is 12 - I am a very lucky Mum and Grandma xxxxxx

jasper · 22/11/2009 02:19

it's normal.
You will think the same at every age!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/11/2009 08:45

I think this at every age!! DS is 10 and we are sitting snuggling on the sofa (DH asleep,DDat sleepover) And we are watching a prgramme about how slushy makers defy the laws of physics!!

bogie · 22/11/2009 08:48

DS is 3 and I love this age he is great really funny, DD is 1 and she is a monster

MaMight · 22/11/2009 09:01

Every single age and stage my dd reaches I think, THIS, THIS is the best she will ever be. There is no more cuteness in the world. It will not be possible for me to ever love her and enjoy her more than I currently do... and then a couple of weeks later I find myself thinking, THIS, THIS is the cutest...

She is three.

At the same time I was quite convinced that while she seems to keep on getting better, there was no way another child could ever hope to aspire to be even half as wonderful as her.... and then ds came along .

frasersmummy · 22/11/2009 09:32

nah you dont want ds to stay 1 forever..

Just wait till he gets to 3/4. He is talking away, playing games with you , loves every cheap outing you take him on and he is out of nappies!

Then you really will feel like you dont want him to grow any more..

ShowOfHands · 22/11/2009 09:50

DD is 2.6

Perfect. She is interested, interesting, talkative, bright, funny, cuddly. No nappies, no tantrums, no frustration, no teething.

It does get better every day.

staranise · 22/11/2009 10:27

Don't, I will start weeping! DC3 turned one on Friday, my last little baby is a baby no longer, I can't bear it.

Baby blue eyes, chubby thighs, only word is 'mamamama' (translate 'Mummy I loooove you soooo much'), I want him to stay this lovely for ever.

madamearcati · 22/11/2009 10:27

YABU.
1 yr olds are SO boring.Kids definitely get better with age

nulgirl · 22/11/2009 10:39

My ds turned 1 yesterday and he is undeniably cute but I much prefer my daughters age. She is 3.2 and so funny and chatty. She does what shes told (most of the time) and there are no nappies/ bibs etc. He on the other hand is a whirling ball of energy. He runs and climbs everywhere he can. He does give the best (if very sloppy) kisses and cuddles though

MaggieBelle · 22/11/2009 10:42

My son is mildly autistic and he was a nightmare until he was 3.

NOw he gets more loveable and funny and quirky and clever every day.

Bleatblurt · 22/11/2009 10:43

My DS3 is 2 today! And is so perfect I could cry. He's my last baby so I try to enjoy each stage as much as possible.

katiestar · 22/11/2009 11:10

OP- your thread made my blood run cold. There is only one way your DC can stay that age for ever.
You should be careful what you wish for !

MsSparkle · 22/11/2009 11:21

My dd was lovely when she one too, then she turned two and ...

QandA · 22/11/2009 11:32

Katiestar

Op, i know what you mean and I agree that each stage makes you feel melancholy for the passing of the previous one, but with excitement for what is to come.

ShowOfHands · 22/11/2009 11:37

oh katiestar, don't do that.

That's not what the thread is about.

sweetheart · 22/11/2009 11:41

I keep saying this mut not just about my ds but about my whole life in general. I wish I could freeze time and live in this moment forever. My dc's are lovely my dh and I have a fantastic relationship and we live a good life. I just don't want any of it to be any different!

Morloth · 22/11/2009 11:44

I am loving 5 personally, he is still cute as hell and does most stuff for himself (and for me!) now.

almostreal · 22/11/2009 11:48

katiestar, thats a really pathetic comment.
