Buggies I have known...

-Mountain Buggy (still got)
-Quinny Zapp (still got)
-Hauck Sport (just given away tonight through freecycle)
-Phil and Ted's Vibe (Just advertised for sale as oldest no longer uses double seat)

So, er..I have just ordered Maclaren Techno XT from Kiddicare

Is this getting serious??

Also gagree having a car buggy (or 2) and a house buggy works well. Problem is I want an off-road buggy and a rear facing buggy

IsItMeOr · 21/11/2009 20:49

Hee hee Lotster Wandsworth freecycle by any chance?

Tidey · 21/11/2009 20:50

Well, BB, I'm not actually like it about handbags or shoes either. I probably do buy more shoes than I really need, but I only ever have one bag until it falls to bits. I see your point re: spending money on something that will last for three years, there's no point spending £15 and having to replace it over and over. I'm still baffled over why people need three or more pushchairs at a time though.

But each to their own.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 20:56

pram hun,is that all the burds who swop and sell habitually

"i have a bile yellow buggerboo with matching catheter bag holder and pimped footmuff will swop for quinny tank wiv parasol and mosquito net"

Tidey · 21/11/2009 20:57

LOL at pimped footmuff

Lotster · 21/11/2009 20:58

IsItMeOr: why do you ask? are you the timewaster?!

Tidey...no, it isn't really like that. It started when I didn't have a car or a computer, and having something to cart a heavy toddler plus a couple of weeks worth of groceries including catfood tins etc was important...and how well it did that was what counted, not what it looked like. But saying that my main reason for having had so many is not practical and it's not fashion related. It's because there's something about them.

When I was a kid i used to love engineering ways of fixing say a seat tot he back of my bike, for a doll to go in - never mattered if the doll got to go in it, iyswim, it was the inventing aspect I enjoyed...or putting a pram on backwards to how it was supposed to, with some kind of contraption for holding two dolls - it was that kind of thing I liked doing.

Same now I'm older! If something has clever adaptations and functions I'm interested in it - the more versatile the better. And I like the feeling of keeping the baby really safe and enclosed. It appeals to me in the way that some people might enjoy decorating a guest room, or wrapping a present...I can't explain it very well.

But most of mine have come from charity shops or second hand and cheapish on ebay...I prefer the old, well engineered clanky ones to the flashy new stuff that doesn't do anything interesting I've only ever had a few new ones and have used them very well.

Scottishmummy that's been trotted out on every pram thread, hasn't it?

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:05

not habitually hanging out wiv pram huns or interested in their pimped chariots how would i know

fledtoscotland · 21/11/2009 21:05

YANBU. there isnt a pram that suits all needs.

I have/had

Graco Quattro travel system - got given it, hated it, sold it
Silver Cross Linear Freeway - love it, still love, still use it most days
Jane Powertwin - worst pram ever. very unstable. Sold within about 2months
Double Nipper 3 wheeler - best off roader ever. huge seats. DS1 loved it until he refused to go in a pram anymore. Nursery bought it from me and DS2 still goes in it regularly
Maclaren Twin Techno - useful for going in the car & shopping. useless outside a shopping centre. still have it but need to sell it
Maclaren Triumph - as with above Maclaren
Maclaren MX3 - bought for walking the dogs. bargain off ebay. Serves the purpose

I have a huge walk-in cupboard in the hall and the silver cross lives in my boot.

Tidey · 21/11/2009 21:06

Well, that makes a lot more sense to me now, actually. Better than my assumption that people with lots of pushchairs just wanted one to match every shade of eyeshadow they owned, thanks Juillet

IsItMeOr · 21/11/2009 21:09

Lol, I was just browsing freecycle before coming on here and noticed your post.

I am a model freecycler .

Juillet · 21/11/2009 21:09

You're welcome Tidey

Scottishmummy if you don't know the people you're talking about, it's a bit daft to be so horrid about them isn't it.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:10

does anyone know anyone on internet have seen for sale boards i know the form

wahwah · 21/11/2009 21:17

juillet, did you really not find scottishmummy's post funny? I'm still chuckling.

Juillet · 21/11/2009 21:18

Oh ok then...go right ahead, but I don't know why people feel so threatened by people who are into prams.
Loads of people are into cars, motorbikes, horses...nobody takes the piss.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:19

the pimped zapp was the funniest sprayed purple.purple haze bone rattler, cycling christ i laughed

Juillet · 21/11/2009 21:19

Wahwah - no, but that's because I've seen it about 30 times on here, in various versions posted by others as well. It gets boring.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:20

and endless "anyone got maclaren comfort pack" doesnt?

Knickers0nMaHead · 21/11/2009 21:24

Each to their own. It isnt as if for sale is in active convos now so why you still complaining?

Juillet · 21/11/2009 21:24

Yes, that's boring too, but at least it's genuine and not mocking someone.

Sorry to sound antagonistic, I just get fed up of the 'let's laugh at pram huns' stuff on here. Leave them alone! It's harmless.

Quattrofangs · 21/11/2009 21:29

As obsessions go, pramcollecting is one of the funniest though.

ROFL at SM

Tell me, do you carry on buying pushchairs after the children have left school?

Juillet · 21/11/2009 21:31

What are you into then Quattro? Any hobbies? Irrational collecting activity?

Come on...give us a break.

scottishmummy · 21/11/2009 21:31

you lot do feel a bitty persecuted dont you? actually some on the for sale are right laugh i mean how many "just out the box" prams can someone sell?

Juillet · 21/11/2009 21:32

'You lot' yes that's right, we're all the same...and yes, I think it's justifiable to feel persecuted when that's exactly what you are.

How clever is it to laugh at people because they enjoy something you don't see the point of?
