AIBU

I have already received xmas presents from various relatives, ordered via websites, which have arrived both for me and DH and for the children. I also have emails from various relatives saying "Hi! Has X arrived? It's for X, can you wrap it and label it for me?"

These are people I am spending THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD WITH. I already have nearly 50 people to buy for, and wrap for, and it would be really nice not to actually wrap my own present in the middle of bloody November.

AIB really ungrateful? It just makes me feel like there is absolutely no thought behind it.

50 people to buy for!

well that includes things like wine for school/nursery which I do like to wrap nicely with cards etc.

But yes, 50 frigging people.

Last year my husband's parents asked him what he wanted for Christmas (a rucksack cover for when he's cycling so cars can see him), then they asked whether he could buy it as he'd know where to get it and they'd reimburse him. Anyway he bought it, and they never asked about it and I felt so bad for him that I wrapped it and did a little card 'with love from Mum and Dad'. They didn't even mention it on Christmas Day and he felt really awkward and ridiculous going 'Er, can I have a cheque for my Christmas present from you that I bought and wrapped myself?' that he didn't bother, so he paid for and wrapped his own present. So, in answer to your question - NO YANBU. Seriously, how hard is it??

My brother (50, single) asks my mum every year what he can get me. My mum asks me what he can get me. I say a book. She says where can I get that. I say, don't worry I'll get it. Because they spend Christmas with us I wrap it. I give it to my mum on Christmas Eve. She gives it to my brother (who thinks she's wrapped it). He writes the label and puts it under the tree. Christmas morning he gives it to me and I say "Brilliant! Just what I wanted!"

The magic of Christmas... Gaaah!

BTW YANBU!

YANBU!! Part of xmas is going and getting the bloody present myself and I love sitting and wrapping presents! I think 50 would be a bit too much for me though! lol. Good luck with that.

I think people are getting lazier and lazier. I do ask people what they want, they never know then I come up with something. But I often come up with something for half the family to buy someone else as well! Everyone seems to ask me, which in a way is flattering as I know my nan says its because I think of something good, but can get slightly anoying sometimes.

Sorry that was completely off the point. I think it is total laziness on there part. They should have it sent to their own house and give it to you all wrapped at xmas! Say you can't take deliveries as you are going to be out a lot and haven't got time to keep going to the post office.
