not if you can afford it, no.

Can't you just ship them out to grandparents/sleepovers instead ? Helluva lot cheaper ?!

MayorNaze · 20/11/2009 09:32

can you not send the kids to bed early 1st and then go yourself?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/11/2009 09:33

DS doesn't do early bedtimes. And sadly no local family and exH had them last night so can't ask him.

I might be able to call a favour in from a friend though...hmm.

What a nice idea. A shame it's so expensive...

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/11/2009 10:00

I've decided to just have an afternoon nap and invite a friend over for dinner so I have no excuse for feeling tired.

good for you. and good luck with the nap

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/11/2009 10:01

It is expensive but she's really good, I've been using her for ages.

I would feel a little silly telling her my plan though haha

I'll stick to the rules of not getting under the duvet and setting two different alarms. Got to pick the DC up at 3pm hehe

£60 for an evenings baby sitting? Is there any special reason that it's so expensive?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 20/11/2009 10:09

That's for an overnight stay. And I have to provide an evening meal and breakfast. Given DS has ASD and rarely sleeps before 10pm it's quite a bargain.

What price sanity? Enjoy.

MistergodthisisSal · 20/11/2009 10:48

Sounds like a brilliant idea to me! £60 for overnight stay is, although a lot of money, a very good deal.

LadyTeasmaid · 20/11/2009 11:10

Hey if thats what you want hun go for it. Happy mummys have happy kids! Enjoy your rest. xxxxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/11/2009 11:13

not silly at all

i have a family that uses me once a month or so to get a decent nights sleep

they have a 3yr who doesnt go to bed/stay in bed/sleep through the night - as well as a baby of 9mths who also doesnt sleep

i have said to mumt to get me in every night for 2weeks and i will re train the child - but she doesnt wasnt that

£60 is cheap for an all nighter - im double that!!

Mishy1234 · 20/11/2009 11:23

Sounds great, go for it!

upahill · 20/11/2009 11:30

£60.000!!!! £120!!!!! Flippin' heck!!

MistergodthisisSal · 20/11/2009 13:38

Yes, but remember, the person doing the all night babysitting is most likely going to be up most / a lot of the night (hence the need for a night nanny), so if you look at in on an hourly rate, it's not that much.

I've only had a night nanny once, and she was brilliant - if you have the money, I can think of worse things to spend it on.

caramelwaffle · 20/11/2009 13:43

YANBU - Enjoy a peaceful night.

upahill · 21/11/2009 11:29

HI The devil..... How did it go ? What did you do in the end?

mumoverseas · 21/11/2009 12:36

God I'd pay double that for 8 hours sleep.
I haven't had more than around 4 hours at night since I was pregnant with DD2 now 3. DS2 is now 9 months and shows no sign of sleeping for more than around 4 hours.
Was up at 4am this morning

Have no family left so no chance of shipping them off anywhere and am counting years til they can go to boarding school

Have a lovely pm/evening

startingagain · 21/11/2009 13:26

These night nannies....do they do it in their own home or the childs home? Sounds a good idea really....although expensive. I would have paid for that when mine were little
