URGENT... to not want to go out to 24hr Asda

itsbeingsocheerful · 19/11/2009 21:45

Now to buy pjs for DS. Just discovered school's Children in Need day is not just non-uniform, but wear your pyjamas. Poor deprived DS has none that stretch further than mid-calf or much beyond his elbow.

But I don't want to go out now, it's raining and I'm tired

have you not got any hidden away for his christmas?

JjandtheBean · 19/11/2009 21:50

in the morning??

change him in asda loos and then on to school?

are schools getting notoriously bad at passing this kinda info on or is it just me??

JjandtheBean · 19/11/2009 21:51

and fwiw whenever ds and dd NEED pjs asda never ever have there size!

southeastastra · 19/11/2009 21:51

i always sent my son in jogging bottoms. it's november for gawd's sake

cinnamini · 19/11/2009 21:51

Any tracksuit bottoms that could double as pj bottoms?? A friend of mine has done that and pinned/sewn coloured pieces of paper onto them

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 19/11/2009 21:52

DO you have any neighbours or friends who could lend you some?

itsbeingsocheerful · 19/11/2009 21:54

No Clayre, they're are on the list and I was looking at some at the w/e but couldn't face the long queue at the till.

DH has suggested the morning, perhaps if he could go then

Or I could just send in in his uniform, or will that scar him for life?

itsbeingsocheerful · 19/11/2009 21:57

No friends hereabouts, well none with 8yo boys anyway.

Just checked joggers, three pair in wash - dirty or just out of machine - 3 lots of footie/PE this week.

I'm going to have to go aren't I?

OP posts:
crokky · 19/11/2009 21:59

I would go and get them, yes.

itsbeingsocheerful · 19/11/2009 22:02

Ahh well. Cheerio. I may be gone sometime...

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 19/11/2009 22:06

Ask him if he wants to wear his PJs or uniform. If he says uniform problem solved If not are the joggers reaaaaaaaaally dirty or could you put the freshly washed ones in the drier or on the radiator?

itsbeingsocheerful · 19/11/2009 22:12

Arrgh. Was going to be good mummy and go, went downstairs to discover DH has taken dog out for walk with our only car key.

Can't ask him NappyAddict, fast asleep in far-too-small PJs

Could try to dry them on radiator, no dryer, but experience says the cuffs and waist will still be wet in the morning. Suppose he could then chose damp almost PJs or uniform,

OP posts:
cinnamini · 19/11/2009 22:29

I'd be tempted to let him wear the dirty ones ... bad mummy

nappyaddict · 19/11/2009 22:40

Has he got any fancy dress outfits? My DS wears those in bed a lot.

mummyofevilprincesses · 19/11/2009 22:46

You could iron the cuffs and waistband a lot, or use a hair dryer (I have been there too lol).

busybutterfly · 19/11/2009 22:47

I bet we could find someone in your area with them in his size. I have some and will message you to say where I am.

Come on MN'ers, we can find the OP what she needs

dearprudence · 19/11/2009 22:52

I'd probably get up early and go to the 24 hour ASDA before he gets up.

itsbeingsocheerful · 19/11/2009 23:50

Couldn't retire without an update.

DH came back at 10.30 so muggins sets off for Asda. George section closed. As I'm now out decide to go to further out to Tescos. Only ones they had DS would have to be bribed to wear to bed, let alone around school.

So, thanks to the wise words on here about joggers, I buy a pair of plain black joggers and long=sleeved t-shirt. Job done.

Now wondering if my mum would, even if there was 24hr shopping X number of years ago, ever have considered traipsing around town at 10.30 at night to satisfy some urge not to be judged by teachers/other mums or the fear that I would be permanently scarred in some way. Can't see it myself.

And a special thank you to busybutterfly for her very kind offer

Glad you got sorted.

And our mums probably didn't love us as much as we love our DC!

itsbeingsocheerful · 20/11/2009 00:21

You could be right DearPrudence.

I still assume my mum is/was always right, so it rarely occurs to me that she did things differently because she cared less

I LOVE 24hr ASDA
Go on, you will enjoy it. Buy some sweets or a cake and munch them on the way round

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/11/2009 10:28

I would love a 24 hour anything, in fact I'd love shops that were open later than 18.00 and not closed over lunch and on Monday mornings.

Madascheese · 20/11/2009 10:36

Just caught up with this thread and wanted to say what a lovely Mummy you are to do all that, I hope you got a little something for yourself as well!

Fortunately for me DS point blank refuses to wear anything even remotely connected to fancy dress so we just make the donation..they were going to have a go at getting him into something at playgroup this morning and I'm just glad it's not my volunteer morning.

nappyaddict · 20/11/2009 10:46

Madascheese aawww does he wear fancy dress all the time? You must have millions of fancy dress costumes!

Madascheese · 20/11/2009 10:48

Nappyaddict No, he won't wear fancy dress, I'm having to use gradual steps to get him round to the idea of wearing his costume for the nativity play!
