Yet another example of freecycle cheekiness

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 13:02

I gave away a phil and teds sport with doubles kit (given to me by a friend but I hated it and DS is too big for it)

I got 30ish responses, selected carefully and the lady that collected it was lovely and very thankful.

I've just looked on freecycle and she is offering it with the line ' I know this will be popular so we can deliver to you for £50 which will help us get a more suitable pram'

Yes I could have ebayed it myself but it was a gift. Yes I shouldn't care once I've passed it on but I think this is just so rude!

What a fucking cow! I'm amazed the mods allowed that. If I were you I'd email them and complain.

petitmaman · 19/11/2009 13:04

report her. you are n't allowed to ask money for stuff on freecylce. i would also email her saying how ckeeky i think she is and that if she did not want the buggy you would like it back

GypsyMoth · 19/11/2009 13:04

how did that even get past the moderators??

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 19/11/2009 13:05

In fact - that sounds like selling, which goes against the rules of freecycle.

perfectstorm · 19/11/2009 13:07

Report her! That is ban territory, surely? It is TOTALLY opposite to everything FC is about - and you aren't allowed to ask for, offer, or accept cash either.

I'd also email her saying you saw her post and want it back for the next person on the list and will be collecting at such-and-such a time.

Firawla · 19/11/2009 13:08

you definitely need to report her for that, so rude!

BalloonSlayer · 19/11/2009 13:08

You must report her.

Cheeky cow. And stupid as well. You'd think she'd have the brains to put it on ebay if she was going to try to sell it.

perfectstorm · 19/11/2009 13:08

Oops, cross-post in spades.

bibbitybobbityhat · 19/11/2009 13:10

My God, how stupid must she be? I really cannot understand how someone can be so utterly clueless.

deepdarkwood · 19/11/2009 13:11

defn report - and email woman to let her know that you have done so, and would like her to hold onto the buggy until you can pick up and pass onto someone deserving...

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 13:13

It's a London group so it's enormous and the mods are rubbish, loads gets past them.

I have reported but might email her herself. Or would that be too snipey?

OP posts:
LadyOfTheFlowers · 19/11/2009 13:13

What an ass-hole she is.
That's why I don't do sites like freecycle.

I borrowed money from a relative I can ill afford when my pram broke and I needed a new double.

I would be livid, in fact, I am!

GinSlinger · 19/11/2009 13:16

I would report her but I would also email her direct - it's not snipey at all. It's things like this that just puts people off using Freecycle

WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/11/2009 13:21

good god! the brazen cheek of people. My experience with FC has been good so far and I can't believe she could do that!

Email her, ask for it back. Then when you collect it from her give her a piece of your mind!!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 13:24

I've just emailed and restrained myself.

I just said I had noticed her post and as it wasn't suitable I'd rather have it back to pass to one of the many women who may find some use for it.

Also just looked and her post has been removed from the site. Still have it in my inbox though.

OP posts:
TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 13:25

I've generally had good FC experiences too, a few loons, but I use it a lot.

OP posts:
WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/11/2009 13:30

Hopefully the mods noticed that one, then. I've had some fabulous stuff for dd, and we've cleared out our garage recently to put stuff back into the system. I love it, it's a good feeling to get something for nothing and then to pass on something useful to someone else!

Would love to know the response you get from this complete cowbag

posieparker · 19/11/2009 13:36

I would email her and say recommend that she donates the £50 to Great Ormond Street or something.

MorrisZapp · 19/11/2009 13:43

YANBU, that's pathetic.

Can I ask a question? Is there anywhere here on mumsnet where you can offer stuff for nothing? Or is it stricly verboten.

I'm not a member of freecycle and I have a couple of things I'd like to pass on.

MorrisZapp · 19/11/2009 13:43

strictly, gah

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 13:46

Yes there's a 'for free' board.

Wish I'd offered it here tbh. Just thought someone collecting it would be easier than trying to arrange to deliver it to someone.

I've just noticed the same woman has offered 5 prams in the last month. Maybe she's a bit of a pram hun (shudder)

No response yet.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 19/11/2009 13:50

MZ there's a free for postage section

StealthPolarBear · 19/11/2009 13:51

but i can never find the bit it's in, so use chat
does anyone want a size 16 black maternity skirt, hardly worn??

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 19/11/2009 13:54

I would email her and tell her you would happily pay her £75 to deliver it to you,(use another addrress) and when you answer the door insist on having it back to give to a person more deserving! cheeky cow

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2009 14:04

Ha thats a genius idea, I've just sent a text to my friend round the corner.

And if anyone wants four size 10 maternity tops they are yours haha.
