To think that 12.99GBP is extortionate for a childs book. One that is part of a series and kids have been waiting for for ages. why not publish it in hard back and do their very level best to stop children reading.

DS devestated as its too expensive to buy at the moment. He wanted Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horowitz and then a new book by Charlie Higson (not Young James Bond but DS deeply excited sa he loves those.

why why why? AIBU???

I think YABU. It's sad that you can't afford it but book publishing is an industry, and if you think it's reasonable for an adult's book I don't see why it isn't for a child's. It costs as much to write, publish and market it.

Having said that if it's a very popular book there's a good chance that the supermarkets & big booksellers will be doing special offers on it. I think. Not in the UK so I'm not sure how big those books are.

It's the standard price for a hardback book. I have seen Crocodile Tears discounted at Red House, and I suspect Asda, Tesco etc. will follow suit as they did with Morpurgo's new book Running Wild. Scholastic bookclubs in school may also have an exclusive paperback edition out soon too. All of these will be 40 to 50% off the cover price of the hardback.

Hope this helps - my lot are desperate for the Horowitz book too.
