who the hell

I am not judging this, it is simply curiosity.

I was on the bus today. Our local school is dropped off by the public bus (rural area) in two 'loads', first the younger, then the older (ages up to 13).

When the younger ones got on (aged 5-7) I heard a boy say 'who the hell.....'

Now i wasn't particulary bothered or offended but when i was growing up and all through my teens i was NEVER allowed to say this or anything that could be deemed as slightly offensive so was surprised to hear such a young person say it.

Just wondering if it is seen as OK for a young child to say this?

As i was never allowed to say anything of the sort at any age and don't really remember what my class mates did and didn't say at that age i got curious. Where better to ask than a forum with a load of parents?

So not really an AIBU Q just a 'is this normal' Q?

they think at that age it's tantamount to swearing. I'll bet at home he's told off if he ever uses it. My DDs sometimes chance their luck with this. But as the yoof of today would say, 'it's no biggy'

That is VERY unusual - certainly not normal for round her.

Normal here (on public buses from a child aged 5-7) would be "Who the f**king hell..."

round here

HAHAHA Purple We live in a 'nice' area but the kids are still doing their best to keep up!

I remeber starting swearing (at school only of course) at around 10 but i am sure this kid was closer to 5.

My innocent baby wont be doing this so soon surely

Sadly I hear a great deal worse as I happen to live on the local sink estate.
"fuck off you C**T" was heard quite frequently in the summer from one family. Have now gone though.

around my way this would be considered quite polite for a 5 year old!

I live in a rural village and I've heard em all as they get off the school bus, f-ing and blinding like troopers.

DD1 (7) came running down the stairs the other day and told me, in a bit of a panic, that DD2(4) had said the 'S' word!! I ran upstairs and confronted her, only to find out the word was........Stupid!

DD1 does say fart though, my dad HATES it and tells her off!!

My two talk about the C word. Their Dad was really concerned until I told him it was caterpiller. I got fed up of dd2 using it in every sentance!

meltedchocolate · 16/11/2009 20:50

I overheard some of the older ones talking a few months ago, talking about 'fanny bashing' --- What on earth is that meant to mean?? (of course they all thought what they were saying was utterly hilarious) Half of the things they were saying didn't even make sense! Then i remembered doing the same thing at that age.... I loved being so innocent, if only i could go there again
