to feel anti-swine flu jab threads ain't helpful for people who had the jab already?

I realise that many people have not yet been offered the jab and are wrestling with the decision to have it or not...(I had mine last week after much agonising)
but for those of us who have taken the plunge, these threads saying don't have it, or only get this particular vaccine etc aren't helping at all.
Or should I just have confidence in my own decision and ignore them?

YANBU. You made your decision, you've had your jab and whilst I acknowledge that there isn't a huge amount of information out there about the vaccination, I'd rather make a decsion based on THAT information rather than the 'my reaction was much worse than yours - I was sooooo very ill, much iller than you' type stories being bandied around online and in real life.

There are lots of people for whom swine flu WILL potentially be a matter of life or death for themselves or their children and for whom the decsion over the vaccine is coplex enough . And if I have to see one more Facebook thread from a bunch of hysterical student nurses about how awful their jab made them feel/how sore their arm is, I might just have to block them

wannaBe · 16/11/2009 16:01

think yabu a bit tbh.

I haven't seen the anti swine flu vaccine threads of which you speak, but surely if you've had the vaccine and have suffered no ill effects from it then what other people think is irelevant.

Fwiw I won't be letting my ds have the vaccine as he is not in an "at risk" category and having had SF myself over the summer I think that this need to vaccinate the entire population is mass hysteria which is totally unnecessary. But can obviously understand the need to vaccinate those at greater risk as happens with normal seasonal flu each year.

pagwatch · 16/11/2009 16:16

YABU
if people want to discuss the pros and cons why should they stop just because you have had it?
And more to the point, you have weighed your decisions and made it. Why are you even looking at them.
I have decided not to get Dcs vaccinated so I don't look at threads. If I think I should revisit I will go back to the sensible sources of information I trust - much as I love them the posters of mumsnet are not my first port of call.
Hide the threads or hide the whole topic.

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/11/2009 16:20

ive had it - just dont click on any threads!

mistletoekisses · 16/11/2009 16:22

YABU. You have made your decision and now that you have done so, avoid those threads.

I too had the vaccine a fortnight ago. I cannot invent a time machine to take me back and undo my vaccination. So I ignore those threads - have actually hidden a few today.

There are lots of people who havent had it and to whom those threads are providing some information so that they too can make up their minds.

Ignore them all.

pooexplosions · 16/11/2009 18:24

YANBU but just ignore. At least half are full of bizarre conspiracy rants and really bad advice anyway....

thedollshouse · 16/11/2009 18:42

YABU. I don't think there are any anti vac threads. There are lots of threads on which people discuss their concerns and as to be expected there are some posters who are against the vaccination for various reasons as well as those who are positive.

flockwallpaper · 16/11/2009 18:43

Well said poo!

sheepgomeep · 16/11/2009 18:56

I've had mine last week too and I'm 14 weeks pg. I've done it now, come what may, nothing I can do now.

There is also a lot of ignorance around about the jab itself. The best one Iheard was that it can give you swine flu

2shoes · 16/11/2009 18:58

yanbu
dd had hers today and I am really glad.
so I will now ignore any threads that say it is bad

TheFoosa · 16/11/2009 19:07

yanbu, but I suppose people can discuss whatever on here, so maybe yab a bit u

YAB a bit U. You've done the hard bit, which is deciding. Of course those threads aren't helpful to you, but they are helpful to many others who are still trying to make up their minds.

sausagesupper · 16/11/2009 22:11

It's not the discussion of pros and cons that I mind, I read them and made my decision. Even the "my reaction to the jab was worse than yours" type ones aren't so bad.
It's the "you should only get this brand of vaccine" - i'm thinking, shit I got the other one, so now what... btw I haven't read the thread just the title made me think
Then the "has anyone had their baby since they had the jab one" again, have'nt actually read it, but to me it is suggesting who's baby is actually ok.
I realise I am being precious and my pregnancy hormones are in overdrive, like others have said, there is a lot of scare mongering going on, nobody actually knows all the facts but seem to cling onto abitrary facts.
But is this helping people to make an informed decision????
Going now to hide all relevant threads...
