They ban facebook and bebo but allow other sites that are just as much a risk. They do not seem to appreciate that any site that has a personal messaging system is open to abuse.

I have a specific concern here in that my daughter was using an apparently harmless site. We discovered almost by chance that she was being asked to post pictures of herself on the net, to meet strangers and to look at some pretty unpleasant porn. Hard to tell if they were the actions of a teenage boy or a paedophile but it was exactly the "grooming" process that you are warned about!

spoke to the head about it and got a letter back saying the site was harmless as it had good policies on not handing out personal details and it had moderators. So have spoken to them again to say one of the people involved was a moderator.

Was going to post amusing experience of my own, but OP's experience is terrible.

While on supply with yr 3 class, activity left was for children to use computers to ind out interesting facts about a fruit. One group choses melons - you know the rest.

head has agreed to ban that particular site but it has made me wonder just what else gets through the system. I know that my childrens' friends have moved on to other such sites. I didn't want to spell out in writing to the head exactly what was involved.
