I'm not suggesting that we come over all netmumsy with flowery dolphin tickers but I have seen several mnetters apologise for giving hugs.

A bit stiff upper lip isn't it?

hugs are high value. they don;t just get wheeled out willy nilly. surely that's a good thing?

Well, I don't frequent any other fora, but IME hugs are fine on MN as long as they are preceded by the words 'an unmumsnet-type'...

It's our schtick.

lol! thats why i lurve mumsnet... if you get a hug then it is well deserved and for a real reason..... if they gave them whilly nilly then they would not be special.... though I am loving the idea of virtual chinese burns groundhogs!

I prefer an affectionate punch to the shoulder, personally.

But that's just me.

poshsinglemum · 09/11/2009 00:15

That's true. to much affection is fake.
