Better you let a human down who loses nothing more than a desire to have a kitten and can go to Cats Protection and save a life through adopting one from them than to let a tiny kitten down though.

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/11/2009 00:49

That's true. i will just have to find some courage, god i'm such a wimp.

Awww this is really getting you down isn't it? I'm sure they'll understand. Maybe do what Vallhala suggests and ask someone else to make the call if you really can't face it. Once it's done you'll probably feel relieved. You are doing it for the right reasons after all...because you love your cat.

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/11/2009 00:53

It is yes and i feel such a prat for getting in this state, most people would say it's only a kitten, but i knew i'd get great advice on here, thankyou all, dont know what i'd do without you all.

I'm sure they will accept that you want to keep the kitten and not be too upset, although they will probably be a bit disappointed.

But you have GOT to get your cat(s) spayed. You say it 'disgusts' you but imo it is more disgusting to keep bringing more cats into the world that you can't really keep - there are too many unwanted ones already. I read that one cats' home is going to have to start putting down kittens because no one wants to give them a home. I am not trying to make you feel bad for the kitten that is already born, as you have already decided to care for her. But not getting animals spayed/neutered is irresponsible.

When I was a kid my mum took a dog in from a friend's family who felt that they couldn't cope with him for whatever reason. We got really attached and he lived alongside our dog for about a week. Then the family contacted us and said that they had made a mistake and missed him so much and wanted him back. We were sad of course but felt only kindness for the family for being honest and realising how much the dog meant to them so we willingly returned him. The point of the tale being that as I said before, real animal lovers will totally understand how you feel and certainly won't be cross about it. Do it as soon as you can find the courage and then relax and enjoy your furry friend

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/11/2009 01:00

yes it does the only reason she wasnt was because she went missing for a week and she wasnt back in time too be spayed, my other cat is spayed and hasnt had any litters of kittens, and i am booking my other cat in when it is ok for her, the vet said 8 weeks after.

Mylittlehead, my understanding is that the vet wanted to spay her cat even though she was already pg and it is that act that Sunshine was disgusted by not the spaying itself IYSWIM.

InMyLittleHead · 06/11/2009 01:50

Oh right, I thought you meant that just spaying her was disgusting, an attitude I have come across before as well as 'it's not fair on them'...

thesunshinesbrightly · 06/11/2009 02:10

no, spaying when they are pregnant.

i did get on the way home with my other cat that i was cruel to get her spayed at that age and i wasnt letting her be a mom so i know what you mean.
