One thread didn't seem enough to get across just how VILE Parma Violets are.

I'd rather eat floury, talc-flavoured, pebbles from the back of my granny's wardrobe.

YUK.

Mmmmm parma violets (said a la Homer Simpson style )

I lurvvvvve parma violets.

My great nana used to buy them loose from the corner shop and kept them in her safe in her bedroom. Her jewelery was on her dressing table for all to see but the yummy parma violets were kept under lock and key lol.

lindsaygii · 29/10/2009 20:07

Those parma violets were locked away so that blind people couldn't eat them by accident. Your great nana was just being socially responsible.

LOVE parma violets - and my kids won't eat them so I get the whole packet.

Also love:

Sprouts
Aniseed (sweet form or pernod - yum)
Licorice

@Hezzamuma what's with the photo? And resurrecting a thread from 2009?

Floatlikeafeather2 · 06/09/2024 14:00

My granddad, who I idolised, bought me a packet once, when I was very little. I tasted one and thought he was playing a trick on me. I was quite upset. He thought he was giving me a treat! We called them cachous, by the way.
