TO BILL THE CLEANER TO CHANGE THE LOCKS?

our new cleaner is not working out.told her so today, she gets paid monthly into her account, will go in on monday.
i gave her 2 weeks notice, she has worked for us for 3, she is going today.
she has said she wont return the keys until she gets the cash and wont wait till monday.
im not sure i can stop it before then as dh sorts it.

I think you are being paranoid. She may have had a bad experience in the past, your working relationship ended badly, she's being unreasonable but there is no reason why you should assume she will copy the keys or break in, especially if your DH works with hers. Wait til monday and then ask for the keys back if you can't cancel the payment and pay cash. You can't bill her for changing the locks anyway, you would have to take her to court and if she returns the keys on monday you would be very unlikely to win.

I do some cleaning, and usually, I'll work a months trial before any DD's are set up, or keys given to me (and also signed for), so maybe you've been a little bit too trusting.

I do think it's odd that she hasn't handed back the keys immediately though, and think it wouldn't hurt to get your locks changed - but I don't think you should charge her for it - just put it down to experience.

Hope you find a better cleaner next time (at £270 for 3 weeks, I hope it's me! )
