Legoland

AIBU after spending nearly £100 on admission for my children to get on more than 3 rides after queueing for 1-2hrs for each, frankley disappointing, ride.On reflection should have bought the queue jumper tickets to at least get something out of the day but at £10 to £30 each we couldn't really afford it.
Finally left in disgust at 3.30 having had enough at Rip-offLand with one very grumpy husband, two disappointed children and a quilty feeling me for having wasted our only family day out this week.
Even Duploland for the toddlers was no better than your average playground and could only find 2 rides for my 2yr old to go on.
Its back to Gullivers World in the future. Third of cost, very few queues and far better rides and entertainment.
Am I missing the Legoland gene because everyone I spoke to before we went said it was fab.

we only visit legoland in termtime, we have annual passes and are about 20-30 minutes away so we go after school and inset days as well as weekends in colder weather, so we feel we get our money's worth.
chessington however we went in the summer holidays paid £70 to get in for 2 adults and 3 children, then paid another £60 for the q-jumper tickets and still queued for over an hour on some of the queues we'd supposedly jumped!
i meant to complain but never got round to it. we got there at 10a.m and left around 5.30p.m after having been on the grand total of 5 rides.

To be fair though, OP, you don't have to pay for 2 year olds to get in, so it is unsurprising that there are not many rides for them.

We had a similar experience to the op 10 years ago and didn't return until last year and only then because we had Merlin tickets.

We went for the fireworks which were good but the queuing hadn't improved. As our children were older there was only a handful of rides they wanted to go on thankfully.

Part of the problem of rides for young children is that they are not rides that are forever emptying one unit then filling again (e.g. log flumes). They are rides that have to be totally stopped, people got rid of, totally filled and each carriage safety checked before the ride can start. This seems to take forever. Especially when only a dozen people can get on at one time. The helicopter ride I remember was particularly bad.

We went on Monday too. Traffic getting in was horrible. DDs got on three rides, but DD2-7 was happy because she got her Lego License (extra £5). Otherwise, my DDs were put off most rides by the long queues. They did like the little archaeology tent (tatty though it was). We live over a couple of hours away, and at closing time it took an entire hour to get out of the car park. I won't be doing that again.

Hiya sorry you had a pants day today. I was there today too and it was HEAVING, I only went to renew my passes really, see the jonny thunder show etc. Today is one of their firework evenings - with a massive display this evening. Legoland is fab but only if you get an annual pass - its really too much to pay to go for one day and you are at the mercy of the crowds. But in honesty, me and my children have had some lovely, lovely days there, but mainly as the pass means you can drop in for 2-3 hours and aren't under pressure to get on everything to get your money's worth! If you are local, would stongly recommend the annual pass, if the park wasn't really your thing, then sure stick to a gulliver's where you know your family has enjoyed previous good days out.

Hi, not read all these messages but got the general idea... and felt I had to agree with Flowerlady and say it really is a fab place to go! BUT, get an annual pass using tesco vouchers and pick your times to go.

We've had some of the best days out there over the years and hope to continue to do so. And I will also add that when we went in the summer and my daughter fell over and cut her arm over badly they escorted us to the first aid and then gave us free pass in for another day after patching us her arm. They were lovelly and couldn't have been more helpful or nicer.

It's a fab place to go!!!
